To determine the type of cable that you will need to connect to your terminal, look at the above
diagram and determine the number of your configuration. The types marked 2, 4, 5,6,7,8 are
Straight-through Ethernet cable; the type marked 3 is Crossover Ethernet cable. If the DSL/CABLE
Modem has the auto-reversal function (it usually has this function), the line marked 1 is
Straight-through Ethernet cable, and otherwise it is Crossover Ethernet cable.

! Note: When you are using the terminal as Hub, in types 1, 2, and 6 you may not be able to get an
IP address from the network. The Ethernet (RJ45) cable we put in the box is a straight-through cable.

3 Ready to use

First of all, you should obtain the IP address of the KTA1010. Dial ‘#*047# ’on the phone and listen
for the local IP Address. If the IP address you hear is 0.0.0.0 or 255.255.255.255, you should contact
the network administrator or your service provider.

After getting correct IP, open an Internet Explorer browser on a PC that is connected to the same
network as the KTA, type the IP address into the address bar and press Enter. You will see the login
screen, the default password is;

Password: 1234
3.1 Network Settings

DHCP is default network status, your KTA will get the required network parameters such as IP, subnet
mask automatically. If your network uses static IP, you should set local IP, subnet mask, gateway IP,
DNS and DNS2 first. If your network uses PPPoE, you should set PPP ID, PPP password first

Important: If your service provider makes presetting such as account, password, IP phone number,
server address, you do not need to do the following operations.

3.2 SIP Settings

After do the corresponding operations above, you should set these parameters which required to
login SIP server: Service Address, Service Port, Register Port, SIP Port, Domain, IP Phone No., User
ID, Password.

Please check them in 5.2

3.3 Save Settings

Simply click on Save Settings and exit the browser after the Update Successful screen appears.

3.4 Normal Operation

After the KTA reboots, the TX/RX LEDs will flash and if the KTA was properly programmed, the
Service LED will come on and remain on. In addition, when the phone is off-hook, you will now hear
a dial tone and can make calls.

3.5 Working Status

The default working status is VoIP regardless of whether the FXO port is connected with PSTN line.

Switch to PSTN status: after the phone is under normal working mode, the VoIP is the preferred
status. Pick up handset to make VoIP calls and set parameters. if you want to switch to PSTN mode,
please follow operations below: Pick up handset→press”*” → switch to PSTN status(the LED phone
light will flicker)→making calls. Pick down the handset, the phone automatically switch to VoIP
working status

4 Commands for Setting Parameters

You may configure several aspects of your KTA without the use of a computer simply by using the
telephone connected to the Phone (FXS) port. Please pick up handset before you input these
command. If the command is successful you will hear a special sound.

! Note: Each Command below is followed by its alphanumeric representation to make it easy to
remember.

5 Configuration Parameters

5.1 Network configuration parameters

Parameter Description

The terminal can have 3 ways to get network parameters: DHCP, Static IP
IP Type or PPPoE, please select one. If you do not know, please ask your network
administrator or service provider.

If your terminal is configured to use DHCP, The required network

DHCP parameters such as IP, subnet mask will automatically be configured as
soon as it is connected to the LAN and powered up.

Select this item to authorize users set IP address, subnet mask and
Static IP
gateway IP address of KTA manually.

Select this item to enable PPPoE protocol which is designed for ADSL and
Cable Modem users. With this system, ADSL ISP automatically assigns all
PPPoE
the required IP parameters to any device connected to it when the device
log on.

With PPPoE selected in IP Type drop down list, please enter the user name
PPP ID/Password
here.

With Static IP selected in IP Type drop down list, please enter IP address,
Local IP/Subnet
subnet mask, gateway IP of KTA here. Note that this address should match

This field defines the primary or backup DNS (Domain Name Server)
DNS/DNS2 address. With Static IP selected in IP Type drop down list, plese enter
DNS IP of KTA here.

MAC MAC address is the physical address supplied by the Ethernet NIC.

5.2 SIP Protocol Configuration Parameters

! Note: Please check with your ISP for the protocol settings. Changing the settings without proper
guidance may result in the KTA not functioning.

Parameter Description

communicate with other terminal in a different LAN or on Internet, please
select an item from dropdown list.

disable: Select this item when the sip proxy server and terminal in the
same LAN, or the sip proxy system supports the terminal working behind
the LAN.

NAT Traversal enable: When the system does not support terminal working behind the
LAN, please select this item to search public IP address of the NAT device.
With this item selected, “nat addr” field will be activated. Besides, port
mapping (port forwarding) needs to be properly set up on NAT device.

stun: Select this item with Stun server used according to requirement of
system. STUN presents a working solution for most NATs that are not
symmetric, e.g., most of the household routers have non-symmetric NAT
and in this case, it is OK to use STUN. However, STUN does NOT work with
Parameter Description

symmetric NAT and if your routers have built-in symmetric NAT, do not use
STUN. If your configuration is STUN-friendly, please configure your
terminal to use it. With this item selected, nat addr field is activated.

Please ask your service provider if you do not know which one to select.

When NAT Traversal is set to enable, please put the domain name of the
servers ( These server helps to find out the public IP of the NAT device)

NAT Addr into nat addr.

When NAT Traversal is set to Stun, please put the URl of the stun server
into NAT Addr, in the format as “domain name/IP address : service port”.

When terminal sit behind a NAT device, it will send packets to server every
NAT ttl
NAT ttl seconds to keep the port mapping on the NAT device alive.

User ID/Password The user name or password used to login SIP server for authentication
