SECTION 1 - Your Information
First Name MI Last Name
County of Residence Country, if not U.S. Day Phone Number Cell Phone Number E-Mail Address
I made a donation online using GoFundMe.com to support the Freedom Truckers Convoy.
I made my donation on --/--/-- in the amount of $---------.
I learned that on February 4th, 2022, GoFundMe.com decided to re-allocate the funds I donated to another cause.
The GoFundMe company statement is available here:
https://medium.com/gofundme-stories/update-gofundme-statement-on-the-freedom-convoy-2022-fundraiser-4ca7e9714e82
In the statement, GoFundMe is indicating they are accepting refund requests until February 19, 2022.
After February 19, 2022, GoFundMe will donate the funds to a charity that meets their company's criteria instead of
refunding donors automatically.
This is harmful to me because:
1. It requires me to take extra steps to obtain a refund and forces me to act very quickly.
2. It forces me to contact my network of friends, who I suggested donate, to facilitate their refund process.
3. It causes me anxiety, as the cause I was intending to support is not being supported.
4. I do not feel comfortable with a reallocation of my funds to a charity I do not support.
I am hopeful your office can help resolve this situation to ensure the Freedom Truckers are funded or the monies returned.
Thank you!
