Financial condition is judged from the 2nd house. It is the house of earning as well as
the house of savings. Some astrologers think that 11th house is the house of earning, but
that is wrong. The 11th house is the house of big gains. But the flow of money, regular
income like salary, etc. are judged from 2nd house. However, the 11th house is also
important for wealth. Karaka planets for wealth is Jupiter and Venus. If a planet gets
influenced by yoga karaka, it can also give wealth.

Venus or Mercury well placed in 2nd house give wealth. On the other hand, Jupiter is a
natural benefic, but its placement in the 2nd house is not an excellent combination of
financial affluence. Jupiter in 2nd house gives only a bare minimum to sustain your
livelihood. This is not what we expect from life. Everybody wants financial affluence.
However, the exception is when Jupiter is the lord of the house. That is good.

Placement of Rahu, in 2nd house, is a problematic combination. It is a potent

combination of poverty. Natives savings gets drained, and the flow of money stops in
the Rahu dasha. He experiences a significant financial setback. An exception is when
Rahu is conjunct with Venus in 2nd house. In general, malefic in 2nd house gives
trouble. However, good Saturn, along with Venus in 2nd house, gives financial stability
as Venus gives wealth and good Saturn gives stability. Mars in 2nd house increases
expenditure. When Rahu in 2nd house gets influenced by Mars, the situation becomes
worse. Ketu in 2nd house makes the native miser.

Now I will explain a few more combinations of poverty. 2nd house should not be
connected with 6th, 8th or 12th houses. 6th lord placed in 2nd house makes the native
debt-ridden as 6th house indicates debt. 8th house indicates ups and downs,
uncertainty and losses. So when 2nd lord is placed in 8th house, it creates financial
trouble. However, it also gives the native unearned wealth like wealth from deceased
relatives, family inheritance, unaccounted wealth etc. However, these kinds of earnings,
most of the time, do not give happiness. 12th house indicates expenditure. So the
placement of 12th lord in 2nd house indicates too much expense. The connection of 11th
lord with 6th/8th/12th houses is also not a good combination for wealth.

Now let’s move on to some good combinations. When you are examining wealth in a
horoscope, you have to know about dhana yogas. The 11th house is the house of gains,
as I explained before. Trikone houses – 5th and 9th are known as Lakshmi bhavas. The
first house is also part of Trikone houses. So any connection between 2nd and 11th, or
connection between 2nd or 11th with 5th, 9th, or 1st create powerful dhana yogas. It is
even better if more than one connection is present in the chart. But remember these
connection have to be strong. For example, 11th lord in 2nd house or vice versa or
exchange of lords between 2nd and 11th are excellent combinations for wealth.
Connection with Kendra houses is also good. Persons who are in business, the
connection of 7th house is important as it gives wealth through trade.

Now it is time to analyze a few real charts and see the application of these rules.

Chart 1. 2nd lord Venus is placed in the 8th

house. On top of that, it is heavily afflicted
by Ketu. Rahu is placed in the 2nd house.
Mars is aspecting 2nd house. However, Mars
is the ascendant lord. But still, it will
increase expenses. The native will spend
unnecessarily on himself. So overall, the 2nd
house is highly damaged. So uncertainty and
ups and downs in the financial sector will be
part of his life. Also, pay attention that there
is not a single dhana yoga present in the
chart. The native started earning in Venus dasha. Notice that though Venus is highly
afflicted, and in an uncomfortable position, it is aspecting the 2nd house. Also, it is the
2nd lord himself, and natural dhana karaka, thus capable of giving wealth. However, in
the subsequent Rahu dasha, his salary stopped, and his savings got drained. So the
native experienced both good and bad effects. This is a very crucial lesson in astrology.
When both positive and negative factors are present, the native experiences both
results, not the average. This is a general rule in astrology and is applicable in all kinds
of analysis.

In chart 2, again 2nd lord Mars is placed in 8th and aspected by Rahu. So there is
uncertainty and ups and downs in income. Even late in life, when she started earning,
her salary was much less than what she deserved. Jupiter is placed in the 2nd house,
but it is 6th lord. Throughout her life native took
loans – one after another. When she pays back one
loan, the situation forces her to take another loan.

Now, let’s end today’s discussion on a positive

note. This is a chart of a successful and wealthy
businessman. Mercury is 2nd as well as 5th lord
and is placed in the 9th house, forming an
excellent dhana yoga. Dhankaraka Jupiter is
aspecting Mercury, creating another dhana yoga.
The 11th lord Jupiter is exchanging aspect with 2nd
lord Mercury. This is also a dhana yoga. 9th lord
Saturn and 7th lord Mars are placed in Lagna. The
7th house connection with good houses such as 9th
and 1st signifies that he will generate wealth
through trading. Venus in 8th also aspects 2nd
house, and notice that here Venus is
not heavily afflicted. Unafflicted
Venus or Mercury in 8th can give
wealth as these benefic planets aspect
the 2nd house.

Disclaimer
All the analysis is an attempt to
explain things from a purely
astrological point of view, which
could be wrong. Astrology is not
science. It could be described as
correlation; that too not yet
demonstrated by rigorous statistical
tests! It could be possible if any
correlation exists that also a nonsense
correlation! We have some rules, but
we don’t have any rational explanation
for those rules. Even if rules are correct
and the astrologer has done his job
right then also astrology cannot predict
events with 100% accuracy. So, at
present, it can be best described as an
age-old belief system. So the general
advice I give is my personal opinion based on astrological rules which could go wrong. I
don’t give you any kind of guarantee that the prediction will be 100% correct. If you rely
3/4
on the astrological prediction, it’s at your own risk. I would not be held responsible
under any circumstances for any financial, medical, legal, emotional, and social loss
that might arise because of the prediction.
