COURSEWORK BRIEF
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the submission or presentation of work, in any form, which is not
one’s own, without acknowledgment of the sources. If a student obtains information or ideas
from an outside source, that source must be acknowledged. Another rule to follow is that any
direct quotation must be placed in quotation marks and the source immediately cited.
Plagiarism is also defined as copying of all or part of the work of another student(s) of current
or previous batch of this University or another higher learning institution. The University’s
degree and other academic awards are given in recognition of the candidate’s personal
achievement. Plagiarism is therefore considered as an act of academic fraudulence and as
an offence against university discipline.
Intellectual Property
Copyright must be seriously protected. The University takes a strong stand against any
illegal photocopying of textbooks and any other materials by students. Students are
forewarned of the consequences and the penalty that may be meted out if they are “caught
in the act”.

Modes of referencing
Students are advised to incorporate proper academic modes of referencing. The normally
acceptable mode of academic referencing is the American Psychological Association (APA)
system; please refer to the APA referencing system document for detailed usage.

Mark allocation for group-based assessments
Group-based assessments assume that all members in a group will be awarded the same marks
for the group components. However, in exceptional circumstances, weighted marks can be
awarded for different members in a group to better reflect contribution of individual members. To
do this, the lecturers or tutors require the view of each group member to be put in writing, which
has to be submitted before the submission of the group assessments. Where no written
submission is made, it will be assumed that all members in a group will be awarded the same
marks for the group components.
Each tutorial class will form groups of ONLY FIVE (5) students each. Fill in the GROUP LIST
form to confirm your team members. This must be done within WEEK 1. Link to the form has
already been made available in WBLE with the label TEMPLATE 1: GROUP LIST.
These pages outline the procedures and requirements for the assessment of the Digital
Transformation Program. The assessment consists of three components:
1. A portfolio of evidence.
2. A quiz.
3. A presentation.
The portfolio of evidence is completed throughout the Program while the quiz and presentation
are done after completing the Program, in no specific order. Candidates who complete the
Program and each of the three assessments can obtain GDT Network Membership and are
eligible to enrol in the Alibaba GDT Digital Entrepreneurship Program.
The tasks required for the portfolio of evidence and the presentation should be completed in
groups with no more than 5 members. The quiz should be completed individually by each
candidate.
Participants in the Digital Transformation Program will develop a portfolio documenting their work
as they complete the three assessment tasks for the program.
The primary objective for GDT is to verify candidates have undergone the process set out by the
program and adapted the concepts it teaches. Hence, to “pass” or complete the POE, a
candidate needs to include all the information specified for each task. The concrete tasks to be
completed are listed on the following pages.
Candidates need only add to the portfolio what documentation is needed to verify their completion
of the requirements. We highly recommend that candidates use the portfolio as a place to store
their work and let it become a record of their journey. The content can be any format (e.g. text,
video, sound, images, presentations etc.)
Alibaba GDT Lecturers expect students to ensure that their portfolio contains the following
THREE (3) perspectives:
3
1. Completeness – every material required for all tasks have been added to the portfolio. A
portfolio where any one element in the checklist is missing cannot pass.
2. Veracity – the truthfulness of any work submitted to the portfolio can be verified. A portfolio
where a GDT Candidate cannot verify the truthfulness of any one element of their work cannot
pass. We expect institutions to uphold a standard of academic integrity with regards to
plagiarism, falsification and cheating and not accept any work with either of these problems.
3. Relevance – all content submitted to the portfolio (including for example – but not limited to –
interview questions, videos, presentations, journals etc.) must be relevant to the tasks and
topics for which it is submitted. A portfolio with content that is not directly relevant to the task
for which is submitted cannot pass
