4.0 Piracy

□ Seal off means of possible access
□ Apply adequate lighting and patrols should be equipped with flashlights
□ Fire hoses should have constant supply of water to be rigged stern of the vessel
□ All crew members should proceed to secured areas
Command
□ Transmit Piracy Alert stating the vessel name, position and incident.
□ Avoid violence
□ All should muster at a secured area until the danger is over
□ Maintain continuous communication with E/R via portable walkie talkie
□ Check the vessel and crew for any loss or damage and inform the local port authority and the
company with the incident occurred.

5.0 Grounding
Response of Deck Officer on Watch
□ Halt the main engine
□ Sound the emergency alarm
□ Report to the master
□ Inform everyone on board of the grounding incident via public address
□ Switch to manual steering
□ Call the attention of nearby vessels
□ Notify the Engineer on watch
□ Transmit safety or urgency communication on channel 16 of the VHF
□ Stop the power and control units for the steering gear
□ Record the time of incident and ship position

□ Make a roll call and check if there are any injured or missing personnel
□ Check the location and situation of the grounding incident
□ Check if there are any occurrence of fire
□ Check for occurrence of oil spill, if there are any, check its extent
