Achieving Success through Effective Business Communication

Answer the following questions briefly.

I. Test your knowledge.
1. Pretend you are already employed. How do you think your communication skills will
contribute to your company’s success?
Answers:
Be a real listener - as a listener I can share communication skills because being a listener
is a skill for a Business to succeed even in this way only, and in order for a business to remain
successful it also needs the unity of every worker to further establish stability and continued
growth of a company that will one day be considered a strong and successful company in all
types of business.

2. How is communication affected by information overload?

Answers:
Information overload is something not just employers are facing, but it’s becoming a
problem in people’s everyday lives as well. When you’re dealing with too much information,
it impacts your ability to make decisions and remain productive, but with a constant barrage
of emails, communication, social media and more, it’s difficult to avoid.
3. How do you make sure your feedback is constructive?
Answers:
Giving feedback is one of the most important parts of every manager’s job. Good employees
need and want to know how they are doing well and those with blind spots in their
performance need and want to know those blind spots and how they can improve.
Constructive feedback is a healthy blend of praise for achievement and suggestions for
improvement. In order to give constructive feedback managers, have to master the art of
having difficult conversations with their employees and offering them meaningful praise in
the right measure.
II. Apply your knowledge.

A. Communication Technologies

1. How are blogs, wikis, and other technologies changing the practice of business
communication?
Answers:
Communicate directly with their customers and tailor their content, products and services
accordingly. Social media also provides a great way to entice new traffic to a particular
business's platform through targeted content, hashtags and well-timed posts. On the one
hand, technology affects communication by making it easier, quicker, and more efficient. It
allows you to track conversations and therefore provide better customer service. Tech also
makes it easier to gather customer insights and improve the entire customer experience.

2. Is it possible for companies to be too dependent on communication technology? Explain.

Answers:
Companies can become too dependent on communication Technology. A lot of companies have
relied on technology to enhance communication. But most times companies aren't too
dependent on technology due to the fact that they use their technology and gadgets for a lot of
things such as keeping up with the news, emailing for work.

B. Ethical Choices.
Explain briefly why you think each of the following is ethical or is not ethical.

1. Keeping quiet about a possible environmental hazard you have just discovered in your
company’s processing plant.

Answers:
Not ethical- because concealing a risk is very dangerous for your company because if you
don’t disclose it can ruin the company and it can also be the beginning of its collapse and
ruin which can also ruin you and your organization.

2. Telling an associate and close friend that she needs to pay more attention to her work
responsibilities, or management will fire her.
Answers:
Ethical - because this term means you care about the co -worker and company that an
employee should take care of and this is his or her role in the company he or she works
for and you are just pointing out that she is slacking off and it does not look professional
from her part when she is slacking off. Everyone needs a friend who tells them the truth
and helps them out. She is just trying to avoid her friend getting fired.

3. Because of your excellent communication skills, your boss always asks you to write his
reports for him. When you overhear the CEO complimenting him on his logical
organization and clear writing style, your boss responds as if he’d written all those
reports himself. What kind of ethical choice does your boss’s response represent? What
can you do in this situation? Briefly explain your solution and you’re reasoning.

Answers:
Not ethical - because you should be in the position of praise so you have the right to feel
and be accepted. Prosecute him to preach and correct his mistake and not to happen again
and to have the courage to do anything bad to his neighbor. What is needed is for us to
prove our respective talents or skills to be shared and easily with praise because it is truly
you and you can be proud of it because it is yours.

III. Practice your knowledge.

A. Communication Etiquette
In group meetings, some of your colleagues have the habit of interrupting and arguing with
the speaker, taking credit for ideas that are not theirs, and shooting down ideas they don’t
agree with. You are the newest person in the group and not sure if it is accepted behavior in
this company, but it concerns you both personally and professionally. Should you go with
the flow and adopt their behavior or stick with your own communication style, even though
you might get lost in the noise? In two paragraphs, explain the pros and cons of both of the
approaches.

Answers:
I need to go with the flow of their behavior to avoid misunderstanding especially since I
have not memorized the rules and how to consider my own interests, I will not prioritize my
own behavior just to show it because it may be the cause of my breakdown and downfall. I
want to first study what to do and what is good for the company I work for I first need to
know the rules to be sure. And I think sticking with my own style would let me stick out in a
good way to my fellow co - workers and would show self-confidence.
