What Is A Healthy Lifestyle?
1. Eating healthy
Includes eating plant-based foods more often and choosing highly-processed or ultra-processed foods
less often.
This is one of the most important diet habits. Vegetables and fruit are packed with nutrients
(antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fibre) and help you maintain a healthy weight by keeping
you full longer.
We should eat three healthy meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with snacks in
between. When you wait too long to eat you are more likely to make unhealthy food
choices.; it is important to remember that dinner does not have to be the largest meal
and we have to avoid eating a large meal before sleeping because it is not healthy
Eating protein foods
Protein foods include legumes, nuts, seeds, tofu, fish, shellfish, eggs, Cottage cheese etc. Protein
helps build and maintain bones, muscles and skin.
Water supports health and promotes hydration without adding calories to the
diet. Avoid sugary drinks and instead drink water.
Playing sports helps reduce body fat or controls your body weight.
Sport increases self-esteem, mental alertness and it reduces stress and anxiety.
yoga. The poses help increase strength and flexibility and improve balance. These are critical
areas for older folks especially, and both men and women can benefit.
New research suggests racquet sports such as tennis, squash, and badminton are the healthiest
sports to participate in.
Alcohol & Smoking
Studies have shown that smoking and drinking together can increase the risk of throat and
esophageal cancer. This may be because the alcohol dissolves chemicals in the cigarette while
they are still in the throat. This can cause carcinogens to become trapped against the sensitive
tissues of the throat. While drinking can be a threat to your health, smoking is certainly worse.
Unlike alcohol at low or moderate levels, there is no benefit to tobacco use at any level. When
you smoke, you inhale various chemicals that can injure cells, causing both cancer and artery
damage (e.g. heart attacks and strokes)
A positive attitude helps you cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It
brings optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worries and negative
thinking. If you adopt it as a way of life, it would bring constructive changes into
your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful.
