1.INTRODUCTION

a. FIRMS’s ORIGIN

Vijetha Supermarkets Private Limited is a non-govt company, incorporated on 26


Mar, 2008. It's a private unlisted company and is classified as company limited by
shares. Company's authorized capital stands at Rs 150.0 lakhs and has 60.806%
paid-up capital which is Rs 91.21 lakhs. Vijetha Supermarkets Private Limited last
Annual General Meet (AGM) happened on 30 Sep, 2016.
The company last updated its financials on 31 Mar, 2016 as per Ministry of
Corporate Affairs (MCA). Vijetha Supermarkets Private Limited is majorly in
Trading business from last 13 years and currently, company operations are active.

Current board members & directors are JAGAN MOHAN RAO MURAKONDA
and KRISHNAVENI MURAKONDA. Jagan Mohan Rao Murakonda has the largest

Ratnadeep:
Ratnadeep Super market was started in the year 1987 with the idea of selling
Groceries and FMCG products. What started as a modest beginning with a single
store has today captured the hearts of the customer and has 47 operational stores and
many more in the pipe line. Ratnadeep has always strived to keep the high standards
of expectation of our esteemed customers and ensure that each store maintains
Quality, Variety and Savings for its customer.
Ratnadeep supplies the best quality of products with a wide range for its
customers to choose at the best prices. All stores are designed spaciously to enable
customer to move around freely and ensure a comfortable shopping experience. We
have always strived to adapt the latest in technology and ensure that the customer
does not spend more time at the checkout counters.
Big Basket:
Big Basket is an Indian online grocery delivery service. It Delivers groceries
found in convenience stores, home essentials and food supplies to its customers It
was founded in December 2011 and is based out of Bengaluru, India.

Big Basket was founded in December 2011 by V. S. Sudhakar, Hari Menon, Vipul
Parekh, Abhinay Choudhari and V. S. Ramesh.

Grofers:

Grofers is an Indian online grocery delivery service. It was founded in December


2013 and is based out of Gurugram India. Grofers was founded in December 2013
by Al binder Dhindsa and Saurabh Kumar.

Having met each other while working for Cambridge Systematics during the late
2000s, they teamed up to enter the grocery delivery space. Their goal was to solve
the problems (both on customer as well as merchant end) associated with the
unorganized nature of the sector. Grofers primarily delivers groceries, fresh fruits
and vegetables, mobiles and accessories, kitchenware, books, home and office
needs, bakery items, pet care, baby care and personal care products, electronics,
flowers, etc.

3. MARKETS IN WHICH THEY ARE CATERING

Retail Marketing: Retail marketing refers to the range of activities undertaken in


the retail store by the retailers as well as the brand to promote the products to the
customers in order to generate awareness, interest, and sales. In simple words,
everything from the interior and exterior of the retail store, to in-store
advertisements, product placements.

4. FUNCTIONAL DEPARTMENTS

a. Organization structure/Departmentation

An organizational structure is a visual representation of how a firm intends


authority, responsibility, and information to flow within its formal organizational
structure. It usually depicts different management functions and show the relation
of one department to another, or others, or of one function of an organization to

another, o others. It is valuable in that it enables one to visualize a complete
organization by means of the chart presents.

As a system, the sequence of work performed in bringing products from remote


suppliers to local customers involves certain discrete business entities. Each of
these entities provides a critical link in the supermarket supply chain.

TYPES OF FUNCTIONS IN ORGANIZATION

1. MARKETING
 It identifies customer needs and wants and design products to meet those
needs and wants.
 They develop the benefits and features of products, including prices and
quality. They also decide on the best method of delivering products and the
best means of promoting them to attract and keep customers.
 They manage relationships with customers and make them aware of the
organization’s desire and ability to satisfy their needs.

2 HUMAN RESOURCE
Human resources (HR) are the division of a business that is charged finding,
screening, recruiting, and training job applicants with, and administering employee-
benefit programs.

The store manager must conduct frequent training programs for the sales
representatives, cashier and other team members to motivate them from time to time.
It is the store manager’s responsibility to update his subordinates with the latest
software in retail or any other developments in the industry. It is the store manager’s
responsibility to collate necessary reports (sales as well as inventory) and send to the
head office on a daily basis.

3. OPERATIONS

Operations is the term used to describe all the activities that keep the store functioning
well. It includes people management, supply chain, store layout, cash operations, physical
inventory, master data management, promotions, and pricing, and so on.

The store must offer a positive ambience to the customers for them to enjoy their
shopping and leave with a smile. The products should be properly arranged on the shelves
according to their sizes and patterns. Make sure products do not fall off the shelves. Make
sure the customers are well attended.

4. FINANCE
It involves planning for, obtaining and managing a company’s funds. It
addresses questions a such as how much money does it need, how and where it will
get necessary money, how and when it will they pay back.

5. FUTURE PLANS-GLOBAL SPREAD AND PRODUCTS

Vijetha promises to elevate shopping from being a daily chore to a world class
shopping experience that also offers value for money. Our retail philosophy is to
provide freshness, choice, value and service to our customers. Vijetha tagline is

everything essential for daily home needs. We also have the best deals running every
week where customers are offered the best of bargains.” Going forward, we will open
new superstores and hypermarkets and aim to grow our store count to 100 by 2022 “

MARKETING

Customer services

 Customers are assets of the retail business, and the retailer can’t afford to lose
even a single customer.

 Greet customers with a smile.
 Assist them in their shopping.
 The sales representatives should help the individuals buy merchandise as per their
need and pocket.
 The retailer must not oversell his products to the customers. Let them decide on
their own.
 Give the individual an honest and correct feedback. If any particular outfit is not
looking good on anyone, tell him the truth and suggest him some better options.
 Never compromise on quality of products. Remember one satisfied customer
brings five more individuals to the store. Word of mouth plays an important role
in Brand Promotion.

HUMAN RESOURCE

attended.

Prevent Shoplifting/Safety and Security

 The merchandise should not be displayed at the entry or exit of the store.
 Do not allow customers to carry more than three dresses at one time to the trial room.
 Install CCTVs and cameras to keep a close watch on the customers.
 Each merchandise should have a security tag.
 Ask the individuals to submit carry bags at the security.
 Make sure the sales representative handles the products carefully.
 Clothes should not have unwanted stains or dust marks as they lose appeal and fail to
impress the customers.
 Install a generator for power backup and to avoid unnecessary black outs.
 Keep expensive products in closed cabinets.
 Instruct the children not to touch fragile products.
 The customers should feel safe inside the store.

Inventory Management and Stock Management

 The retailer must ensure to manage inventory to avoid being “out of stock”.
 Every retail chain should have its own warehouse to stock the merchandise.
 Take adequate steps to prevent loss of inventory and stock.

Visual Merchandising

 The position of dummies should be changed frequently.


 There should be adequate light in the store. Change the burned-out lights
immediately.
 Don’t stock unnecessary furniture at the store.
 Choose light and subtle colours for the walls to set the mood of the walk-ins.
 Make sure the signage displays all the necessary information about the store and is
installed at the right place visible to all.
 The customers should be able to move and shop freely in the store.
 The retail store should be well ventilated.

FINANCE

Refunds and Returns

 Formulate a concrete refund policy for your store.


 The store should have fixed timings for exchange of merchandise.
 Never exchange products in lieu of cash.
 Never be rude to the customer, instead help him to find something.

Cash Handling

 Cash handling is one of the most important aspects of retailing. It is essential to track
the daily cash flow in order to calculate the profit and loss.
 Cash Registers, electronic cash management system like point of sale (POS) system
help in managing the daily sales and the revenue generated.

Learnings
After completing the project my learnings were as follows:

 Customer lifestyle and spending pattern are changing.


 There are many types of markets such as hyper market, departmental stores,
supermarket etc.
 There are various functional departments.
 Building a unique retail experience for the customers.
