Learner Outcomes from the Program of Studies

What are the SPECIFIC outcomes to be addressed in this lesson?

Unit C: Electromagnetic Energy

General Outcomes - Students will:

2. Describe the properties of the electromagnetic spectrum and their applications in medical technologies,
communication systems, and remote-sensing technologies used to study the universe.

Specific Outcomes for Knowledge and Skills:

30-C2.1K
30-C2.2K

LESSON PLAN SEQUENCE

Introduction
How will you ACTIVATE prior knowledge and ENGAGE them in the lesson and how does this lesson connect to prior lessons?

I will start a class concept web on EMR using the whiteboard to activate prior knowledge. I will ask
students to contribute what they know (or think they know) about EMR and create a web based on that.
That will also help me to know how much they know about EMR.

Learning/Activity Sequence
How will students ENGAGE, EXPLORE, EXPLAIN, ELABORATE, and/or EVALUATE their understandings of the outcomes.

summarize this.

I will go over important terminology such as Students will watch me do an example 20 mins

Conclusion
How will you ensure students walk away with a sense of understanding the PURPOSE of the lesson and its IMPORTANCE to
their learning?

Adapted from Wiggins, Grant & J. McTighe (1998)

I will ask students if they have any final questions or need any clarification. The calculation problems will
be worked through using “I do-we do-you do”. I will walk around and observe/answer questions students
have as they work through their textbook questions. This will be for formative assessment and not marked.
