    BI Implementation Steps

    What are the business intelligence implementation steps?

    There are flows which you have to follow for getting the BW System ready and
    healthy.  This is where the Consultants Experience Plays a major role:

    1. Identify the plugin are installed on the Source System.


    2. Create the Logical Systems in both Systems (Source Systems and BW System).
    3. Achieve the connection between the Source System and the BW System (Creation
    of ALEREMOTE users).
    4. Transfer the Application Hierarchy.
    5. Activate the Identified Data Sources in Source System.
    6. Replicate the DataSources in SAP BW.
    7. Now the Data sources are to be mapped according to the Modeling done in the BW
    System.

    There is always a option to add more data sources or some thing of that sort at any
    point.
    Then there is the option of Early Check available from SAP which checks your
    system and give suggestions for improvements.

    Basic Implementation Steps

    In a BW implementation project, 5 phases are there.


    As a BW Consultant in that five phases 

    Preparation

     Identify the business requirements with the help of existing documents and
    business needs.
     Basing on the requirements, determine which pre-delivered SAP SD functional
    areas to be included.
     Technical Requirements Planning like frequency of data uploads, events to be
    triggered (Process chains).
     Identify the end user requirements ( BEx, Workbook, Crystal Report..) and
    security requirements.
     Establish System Landscape and Transport Strategy (Basis).

    Blueprint
     Set up of the Development environment.
     Business Content Check : Finalize a list of pre delivered business content to be
    activated by functional components, data sources, info cubes, objects, queries,
    workbook and roles.
     System Administration procedures like data access issues, definition of roles,
    responsibilities and tasks for each procedure.
     Agree upon the instrument (template) to record the test result and additional
    requirements.
     Develop evaluation criteria and test plan.
     Coordinate with DBA for Table Spaces definition .
     Testing of BW operating environment (both Plug-ins, BW backend and BW
    front-end).

    Realization

     Business Contents Activation.


     Populate SAP delivered business contents with customer data.
     Verify the content activation Result.
     Data conversions and interface programs.

    Final Preparation

     Perform System Performance Tuning activities.


     Adjust database parameters.
     Review Indexes.
     Review data loading time and evaluate feasible options.
     Parallel processing; partitioning; multi cube.
     Review Query performance and feasible options.
     Aggregation; compression; MultiCube.
     Develop a BW Operations Guide.

    Final approval for going live

     Support.
     Go live Checks.
     Support review.
     Provide production support.
     Validate live business process results.
     Define the scope of next iteration of implementation.
