INTRODUCTION TO HERO MOTORCORP:

Hero Motocorp Limited, formerly Hero Honda, is an Indian multinational motorcycle and
scooter manufacturer based in New Delhi, India. The company is the largest two-wheeler
manufacturer in the world, and also in India, where it has a market share of about 46% in the
two-wheeler category. The 2006 Forbes list of the 200 World's Most Respected Companies had
Hero Honda Motors ranked at #108. On 31 March 2013, the market capitalisation of the
company was ₹30,800 crore (equivalent to ₹420 billion or US$5.9 billion in 2019).
Hero Honda started its operations in 1984 as a joint venture between Hero Cycles (sometimes
called Hero Group, not to be confused with the Hero Group food company of Switzerland) of
India and Honda of Japan. In June 2012, Hero MotoCorp approved a proposal to merge the
investment arm of its parent Hero Investment Pvt. Ltd. with the automaker. This decision came
18 months after its split from Hero Honda.
"Hero" is the brand name used by the Munjal brothers for their flagship company, Hero Cycles
Ltd. A joint venture between the Hero Group and Honda Motor Company was established in
1984 as the Hero Honda Motors Limited at Dharuhera, India. Munjal family and Honda group
both owned 26% stake in the Company.
During the 1980s, the company introduced motorcycles that were popular in India for their fuel
economy and low cost. A popular advertising campaign based on the slogan 'Fill it – Shut it –
Forget it' that emphasised the motorcycle's fuel efficiency helped the company grow at a
doubledigit pace since inception. In 2001, the company became the second largest two-wheeler
manufacturing company in India and globally. It maintains global industry leadership to date.
The technology in the bikes of Hero Motocorp (earlier Hero Honda) for almost 26 years (1984–
2010) has come from the Japanese counterpart Honda.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES:
• Observing the Company's Environment:
The combination of internal and external factors that influence a company's operating
situation. The business environment can include factors such as: clients and suppliers; its
competition and owners; improvements in technology; laws and government activities;
and market, social and economic trends.
• Understanding the given task provided:
Providing the schedule of work on daily basics, the work has to be done considering time
management and smartest way of thinking. The more the speed of work done on daily
basics the more knowledge and outcome will be awarded.
• Tools handling:
Every tool provided inside the company or showroom will be handled in a precise
manner. To handle any tool to work, the very first objective is how to use the tool and the
second objective is reordering the tools in the tools box or room.
• Vehicle handling:
In every automobile sector i.e., company or showroom the important objective is how to
handle the vehicle inside the unit. Scratches, smudges, and dents caused by other illegal
activities should be avoided. Removing unwanted things adjacent to the vehicles gives
clean environment on working on it

SAFETY MEASURES:
• Safety is our personal responsibility
• Always follow the correct procedures
• Never take shortcuts
• Take responsibility and clean up
• Clean and organizing the workspace
• Ensure clean and easy route to emergency exits and equipments
• Be alert and awake on the job

TRAINING OUTCOMES:
TIPS I LEARNED DURING THE INTERNSHIP FOR VEHICLE MAINTENANCE:
• Weekly run the engine idle for 60 secs to ensure proper fuel circulation
• Park the vehicle on the main stand on levelled surface to avoid damage due to fall
• While the vehicle is parked on the main stand and when the engine is running, shift the
transmission in all gears for lubrication
• Preventing the vehicle from keeping under sunlight because it can damage the seat cause
the paint to fade. So, store the vehicle under shade or keep it covered
• Weekly run the engine idle for 5 to 6 mins to keep the battery charged (5 AH – Exide)
• Check the electrolyte level against the top and bottom markings on the battery shell.
Always top up with distilled water whenever required.
• Maintain the recommended tyre pressure and remember to rotate them to avoid a flat spot
• Minimum fuel should be maintained

Tyre Size: 80/100 R18 Tyre Size: 90/100 R10

Front tyre pressure: 35 psi Front tyre pressure: 22 psi
Rear tyre pressure: 40 psi Rear tyre pressure: 36 psi

• Always change the air filter at recommended intervals, also increase the cleaning
frequency in particularly dusty conditions.
• The clutch should be adjusted correctly and should have the right amount of free play.
Don’t tighten your clutch too much – an over tightened clutch would cause it to slip
without your notice and also leads to increase in fuel consumption. So, make sure you
have the right clutch adjustments in place.
• Always keep both the brakes holding the tyre properly spaced. Both in the case of brakes
becoming too tight, or too loose is very dangerous. The Brakes are always recommended
to be tightened as per the bike rider’s personal style and requirement. Replace the bike’s
brake pads in the front if screeching sound persists, this could also be because of lack of
oil.
• Remember to change your bike’s fork oil, for once in every 12000 kilometres.
• Check the Sprockets and replace them when necessary. The usual wear-out limit for
sprockets is 40,000 kilometres
• Try and maintain a riding speed of 40 to 60 kilometres to reduce the fuel consumption as
well as to keep the bike in good health.
