The key takeaways are that a pie graph can be used to show percentages of data in different categories and make data easier to visualize. It teaches how to construct a pie graph based on given data and interpret data presented in one.

A pie graph, also called a circle graph, is a circular statistical graphic divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion.

A pie graph is constructed by dividing a circle into slices or sectors, with the arc length of each sector proportional to the quantity it represents.

pieces of plastics and paper
under your chair.

Who is absent today? None, sir!

4. REVIEW
Class let’s have a simple game
entitled “THE MYSTERY
ENVELOP” I will call 2 students
to pick an envelop on my
hand. After picking, I will let
the student to call someone
on the group to answer a
question on the mystery
envelop. The holder of the
envelop and the on who
answer the question correctly
will have a price. But when
they provided the wrong
answer they will not get any
prize. (the student will pick an envelop on my
hand)
Now, let us begin.

Mae pick an envelop on my

hand.

Call someone who will answer What is the formula in finding the volume of

envelop.
(the second student will answer)
Mae, open the envelop and
read the question. The formula in finding the volume of a cube
is V=s3.

(ray will pick the last envelop)

Very good, the formula in
finding the volume of V=s3.
Here is your price. (ray will call someone to answer the
question)
Ray pick another envelop.

What is the formula in finding volume of a

Yes sir!

Is he correct class?
Excellent! Here is your price.
Last meeting, we have discuss
about volume, and volume is
about the amount of 3-
dimensional space occupied
by an object.

5. MOTIVATION Circle, sir!

Before we start our lesson. I
will ask 3 different question,
each question is worth a prize. Round or circle, sir!

Let’s begin.
Circle sir!
Gail, what is the shape of a
coin?

Very good!
Jay, what is the shape of the Pie graph
wheel?

Excellent!
Now, class what is the shape
of a pie?

B. LESSON PROPER
PIE GRAPH Pie graph are used to show the percent of a

2. DISCUSSION
Pie graph are used to show the
percent of a quantity in each of
the several categories. It can
also be used to easily visualized
a ratio.

April, what is a pie graph

Very good!
Pie graph are also called circle
graphs because they are shaped as
a circle. The entire circle is
considered as a whole.

Let’s have an example

There are 24 hours in a day and

you spend 8 hours at a school, 8
hours in sleeping, 2 hours
studying, 2 hours playing and 4
hours watching TV.
- 8 hours in school.
Let’s create a pie using the given =8/24*100=33.33 or 33%
data.
- 8 hours in sleeping.
First let us draw a circle. =8/24*100=33.33 or 33%

- 2 hours of studying.
=2/24*100=8.33 or 8%

- 4 hours watching TV.

After creating a circle. =4/24*100=16.67 or 17%
Let us analyze the data and
compute for the percentage:

- There are 24 hours in a day.

- 8 hours in school.
=8/24*100=33.33 or 33%

- 8 hours in sleeping.
=8/24*100=33.33 or 33%

- 2 hours of studying.
=2/24*100=8.33 or 8%

- 4 hours watching TV.

=4/24*100=16.67 or 17%

After computing for the

percentage, let us divide and
construct the pie graph.

Yes sir!
(students will answer the question)

Total number of students=28

E. =4/28*100=14%
F. =12/28*100=43%
G. =10/28*100=36%
Do not forget your Pie Graph. H. =2/28*100=7%

Did you get it class?

(After 5 minutes)
Are you done class?

Let’s solve the problem and

check your paper. Exchange
notebook with seatmates.

4. EVALUATING

Nice, what is the value of

using Pie Graph in our daily
life?

Excellent!

Pie graph is valuable in our

life. Imagine if we cannot
express data in Pie graph. We
cannot understand the data in
a simpler way. Thus, Pie chart
is very useful in business data,
schools and places and work
all over the world.

5. GENERALIZATION

Class what have we discussed

today?

Raven, what is Pie Graph?

Very good!

IV. EVALUATION
A. Construct a Pie Graph
I Have prepared an individual
activity to test whether you
understand our discussion.

1. According to the National

Statistics Office, the
number of Overseas
Filipino Workers who
worked abroad at any
time during the period of
April to September 2018
was estimated at 2.3
million.

Given that:
- Australia= 10%
- North and south America=
25%
- Africa=5%
- Asia=50%
- Europe=10% B. How many OFW’s are working in
Europe and Asia.
A. Construct a Pie Graph
using the data. Europe =10%
B. How many OFW’s are Asia=50%
working in Europe and
Asia. Europe:
10%*2.3 million=230,000

I will give you 10 minutes Asia:

to answer the problem. 50%*2.3 million=1,150,000
Your time start now.
230,000 + 1,150,000=1,380,000

Yes sir!

Yes sir!

Goodbye and thank you sir!

(after 10mins)
Are you done class?

Now you may pass your

activity sheets.
