GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. WHAT DOES LENT REPRESENT?

Lent is a season of reflection and preparation where we commemorate the passion, death, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ.

2. HOW LONG DOES LENT LAST?

Lent is a yearly event that occurs in February or March and lasts 40 days, not including Sundays,
making the season 46 days long in total. This year, Lent begins from the 2nd of March until the 14th of
April.

3. WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN DURING LENT?

During Lent, people focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Prayer focuses on our need for
God's forgiveness. It is also about repentance and receiving God's grace and love. Fasting, or giving up
something serves as a reminder of Jesus' sacrifice as we spend more time engaging with God. Giving
money or doing good for others is a way to express gratitude for God's kindness, generosity, and love.

4. WHAT IS ASH WEDNESDAY?

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent where people have a smudge black cross on their
foreheads from Ash Wednesday service. These ashes represent our grief for the wrongdoings we've
committed.

5. WHAT IS HOLY WEEK?

Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter and is the week during which Christians celebrate the
Paschal Mystery, the passion and death of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and his victorious resurrection, his
triumph over sin and death, and his glorification by his Father.

6. WHAT DOES HOLY WEEK REPRESENT?

Holy Week represents a time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ.

7. On what days do we observe Fasting?

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics.

8. Why Is There A Need to Fast?

We fast because we wanted to grow a deeper connection with God and show our submission to
Jesus and repent for things we’ve done. Fasting reminds us that God comes first in our lives and that he
provides for all our needs so we can completely depend on him. on Jesus and let go of everything that
distracts us from Him.
9. Do You Have to Be Catholic to Participate in Lent Activities?
Christians of all denominations can participate and do lent activities.

10. What is your reflection during this HOLY WEEK?

Holy Week allows me to reflect and offer myself to God. This allows me to communicate and
reconcile with God, as well as reflect on my actions, through sacrament and prayer. This makes me accept
my mistakes and forgive those who have wronged me. It taught me so many things like we must be
forgiving and always trust the Lord as he will give the desires of our hearts at the right time. This also
reminds me to always remember how our Savior gave His life to free us from our sins.
