INDEPENDENCE DAY SPEECH

Long ago we made tryst with destiny and now the time comes when we shall pledge not wholly or in full measure but very substantially these were the words of pundit Jawaharlal Nehru on the very day of independence. At the stroke of midnight hour when the world slept , India awakened to life and freedom . A moment came which comes but rarely in history. Soul of the nation, suppresses found utterance. Defiance of law and order was non-cooperation., hartal was a moral protest and Satyagraha was the technique for realization of truth that is god. Poor Indian whose untutored mind sees god in clouds and hears him in wind blow was changes, now it was filled with satire against British raj , singing melodies of freedom . Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil me he dekhna he zor kitna bazue katil me he.. And who has seen the future? It came soon enough. A hard earned prized frizzed freedom was won after long glorious years of struggle, but a bloody partition rent asunder the fabric of the free emerging nation. Still the visions of the revolutionarys intent illuminate the somber reality we are living today. The achievement we are celebrating today was a step back then in future , freedom and power brings responsibility . So are we responsible and vigilant enough after 63 years of independence?
