-Yogacharya Dr. Abhayaraj Upadhaya Piles is an English name which is called Bawasir in Hindi and Arsa in Sanskrit. This is the disease of anus. In primary stage of this disease there will be feeling of itching and burning in the inner and outer anus area. After sometime smalls boils will come out in the itched and burned area then the boils will form bigger which causes pain while excreting because of breaking of boils along with bleeding. This is called bleeding piles but there will be another kind of piles when there will be extreme pain due to burning because of which the patient becomes afraid of excreting. The other diseases related to anus are also Fistula, Fissure, etc. Being of different names and nature also the treatment and asanas for these areas will be the same. This is itself not a disease but the cause for other diseases in the body. Especially it would not matter if we say this to be the disease of present civilized and modern lifestyle. Along with modernization as we intake food on standing or .fast food so will there be the probability of this disease. Maximum use of sour, chilly, spicy, fast food, packed food and drinks, fish, meat and liquor are also the main reasons of this disease. Also no physical exercise, drinking little water, eating less fibrous food, using less green vegetables, not having juicy food, maximum rest, having food more than needed, resting or sleeping immediately and having intercourse after having meal are another reasons of this disease. Except these having no proper excretion, less excretion in 2-4 days are another reasons. When there will be constipation in human body this will affect intestine and hot gases will have negative impacts on intestine which will make intestine very weak. This weakness will develop heaviness in anus area and at the end of this area (tip of anus), polluted blood will collect. Later this blood will develop into boils and the disease will be chronic. In some cases there will be swelling of hand/feet, swelling of face, swelling of anus and naval regions and the last effect will be pus formation in anus area which will cause much pain. So to depend on foreign medicines (Allopathy Medicine) or to think of curing this by operation is nothing than stupidity. Until the patient do not change the habits and diet this disease will remain in the body and after food will not be digested. So instead of thinking of curing this disease by use of medicines or operation patient should stress on improving the diet along with the exercise (Yoga practice), combination of rest and some natural way of treatment. At this point we can remember one proverb that is Diet cures more than Doctors but in emergency stage we have to take help of foreign medicines and even do operation. Still there will be the probability of infection of the disease. So only if we manage our daily routine and eating habits there are many diseases for which we dont have to depend on medicines.
The research and investigation done in the patients by the writer has made patients of different age and different condition feel cured from this disease. The simple steps and precautions that can be taken by the patients in daily life are as follows: There is no reason that all the constipation patients should have piles but all the piles patients will have constipation, so the piles patients should clear the constipation. Patient should increase the amount of drinking water, use ayurvedic and natural herbs. Leave the bed before sunrise in the dawn. After waking up rinsing the mouth and have at least one liter lukewarm water especially the one kept in copper vessel that is one day old. Practice Halasana (One asana of Hathyoga). Try to excrete, remain fresh. Doing light exercise (Energy regulation exercise), yogic steps involving 2/4 standing postures, some sitting postures, some opposite postures (since these postures are completely pure yogic postures and differs with age, condition of the disease, physical condition of patient so their name are not mentioned). To contact good yoga guru or instructor in the Yoga ashram near to ones reach. Have Tulasi drink/herbal drink, herbal tea, herbal coffee, etc. after relaxing for sometime after performing yoga exercises. To have morning meal in proper time, have very little water if necessary during meal, sit in Vajrasana for 30 minutes keeping spine erect after meal, drinking 2/4 glass water after another 30 minutes and have 1-2 glass of water regularly within 1 hour. To drink less water after evening. Having sprout cereals, cucumber, carrot, radish, tomato, etc. in the afternoon. If needed to have more than this, have two pieces of pure flour bread . In summer time 1-2 glasses of mohi can be had. Have dinner before 8 P.M. and to sit in Vajrasana for 30 minutes after having dinner then only do other works. Sleep only after 2 hours. Sleep more from the left side. Have pulse, green vegetables, vegetable soup in meal. Use less sour, chilly, oily and spicy food. Stop using chilly powder. Stop eating fast food like Momo, Pizza, roasted meat, Burger meat recipes and if use sap of meat. Be aware of using vegetable ghee. Involving in sexual activities seeing the condition of disease and body. So by maintaining ones daily routine, management of diet and improvement of habits will prevent from infection of the disease because of which good health and longetivity is increased. Again as these practises have been successfully followed by many patients, those who are suffering from this disease can easily follow above mentioned habits and certainly would feel the less pressure of the disease along with freshness of the body.
