Description
ShaliPlast® CI is corrosion inhibitor, which protects steel bars imbedded in concrete through
formation of protection layer around bars formed by migratory corrosion inhibitor.
ShaliPlast® CI may be used in construction with any admixture being used at site.
Technical Characteristics @ 27°C, 55% RH
Colour Brownish Application Temperature, °C 5 - 45
pH 7-9 Chloride content Nil
RCPT, Coulomb ** 500 - 700 Density, kg / ltr 1.05 - 1.08
** Depends upon the grade of concrete
Application
• Used for concrete in contact with chlorides from a marine environment
• Effective in parking structures
• Marine structures
• Bridges
• Deicing salts
Advantage
• Provides bi-polar corrosion inhibition by restricting both anodic and cathodic reactions on steel.
• Corrosion protection for embedded reinforcing steel, especially from chloride attack.
• Extends the service life of structures in a de-icing salt and marine environment.
Application Methodology
• Add ShaliPlast® CI to the dosing water or added with it in to the concrete mixer. Itshould
not come into contact with dry cement. It may also be added to the concrete in
thetransitmixeratthe point of discharge.
• ShaliPlast® CI is compatible with other admixture, however each admixture
shouldbeaddedtothemixseparately.
• When ShaliPlast® CI is used with an air entraining agent then the dosage rate of airentraining
agent should be reduced. ShaliPlast® CI may react with the air entraining agent increasing its
air producing efficiency.
• Compatible with all types of Portland cement including SRC (Sulphate Resistance Cement) and
not compatible with high alumina cement.
Dosing
0.4 - 2 % by weight of cement depending upon the depth of the rebar, concrete quality. Do not allow
over dosing. Due to overdosing setting time will be extended rigorously. It is advisable tocarry out a
trial to establish the exact & optimal dosage rate depending upon set retardation required.
Value base of product data
All technical data stated in this Product Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests. Actual measured
data may vary due to circumstances beyond our control and different test methods.
Health and Safety information
For information and advice on the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemical products, users
shall refer to the most recent Material Safety Data Sheet.
• Avoid contact with skin/eyes and avoid swallowing.
• Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapour.
• Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.
• In case of skin contact, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. Do
not use solvent to clean the contacted area.
• In case of eye contact, wash with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.
• If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
Cleaning & Disposal
• Spillages of ShaliPlast® CI should be absorbed onto sand, earth or vermiculite and transferred to
suitable containers. Remnants should be hosed down with large quantities of water.
• The disposal of excess or waste material should be carried out in accordance with local legislation
under the guidance of the local waste regulatory authority.
