Last holiday, my friends and I decided to go to Bromo. We left Semarang in the afternoon. After a very long trip,
we finally arrived in Probolinggo. We arrived at the hotel at 2 p.m. and immediately were ready for our trip to the mountain.
Driving on our 1997 Suzuki Carry we climbed Penanjakan to enjoy the sunrise. It was amazing. From Penanjakan
we left to Bromo. During our trip, a horrible thing happened. Although Bromo is lower than Penanjakan, our trip proved to
be very difficult. While our car was slowly climbing the mountain, it suddenly became stuck. It slowly moved backward.
We quickly jumped out of the car. The driver asked us to push the car and we did so accordingly. We pushed and pushed
the car but the engine couldn't start. When we were so tired to push, we stopped and leaned our backs to the car to stop it
sliding backward. It was horrible. All of us were desperate. After thirty minutes, the engine worked again. We cried in
happiness. Then we continued our journey.
Green, or common, iguanas are among the largest lizards in the Americas, averaging around 6.5 feet (2 meters) long and
weighing about 11 pounds (5 kilograms).
They are also among the most popular reptile pets in the United States, despite being quite difficult to care for properly. In
fact, most captive iguanas die within the first year, and many are either turned loose by their owners or given to reptile
rescue groups.
The green iguana’s extensive range comprises the rain forests of northern Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean Islands,
and southern Brazil. They spend most of their lives in the canopy, descending only infrequently to mate, lay eggs, or change
trees.
Primarily herbivores, iguanas are active during the day, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruit. They generally live near water
and are excellent swimmers. If threatened, they will leap from a branch, often from great heights, and escape with a splash
to the water below. They are also tough enough to land on solid ground from as high as 40 feet (12 meters) and survive.
Resting time is usually from afternoon till night.
My family likes spending time by the sea very much. When we had a holiday last year, we went to a place at the
seaside and borrowed a boat from one of our friends. Then we sailed and fished in the sea all day. We also had races against
other boats.
When the sea was rough, we sailed on a small lake near the sea instead. There were a lot of sharp rocks, and the water
was shallow, so we must be careful because we did not want to damage our friend’s boat.
There were not many fish in the lake, but we caught a lot when we sailed to the sea. The fish were not very big, but
they tasted very good. We sailed to the land at lunch time, collected pieces of dry wood and fried or grilled our fish at the
beach. All of us enjoyed our meals. It was the most wonderful day for my family.
