1. a) 6 x +5+12 x – 6
Six x plus five plus twelve x minus six.
x
b) 0,2 x+1,2 x + + 5
2
Zero point two x plus one point two x plus x-second plus five.
c) 5 x−8+7 x−2 x ²−4+ 9 x ²+ 4 x 3
Five x minus eight plus seven x minus two x to the second power minus four plus nine
x to the second power plus four x to the third power.
d) 12 = 12 × 1 = 3 × 4 = 6 × 2
Twelve equals twelve times one equals three times four equals six times two.
1 1
e) 3 +5
2 2
Three and one-half plus five and one-half.
1 1
f) 3 ÷5
4 3
Three and one-quarter divided by five and one-third.

2. a) 2³=2× 2× 2=8
Two cubed equals two times two times two equals eight.
b) 5²=5× 5=25
Five squared equals five times five equals twenty five.
c) √ x=…
The square root of x
√ x=x 1/ 2
The square root of x is equal to x to the one-half power.
d) √ 3=…
The square root of three
√ 3=1,732
The square root of three is equal to one point seven hundred and thirty two.

3. a) The division of 4 by 2 is equal to 2 with remainder not equal to zero. (True)

The statement is true because 4 divided by 2 result in 2, so it can’t be zero because
there is still 2.
b) 3 is a factor of 9. (True)
The statement is true because the factors of 9 are 1, 3, and 9.
c) 5 and 3 are factors of 15. (True)
The statement is true because the factors of 15 are 1, 3, 5, dan 15.
d) 3 is a factor of 7. (False)
The statement is false because the factors of 7 are only 1 and 7.
e) The division of 10 by 10 gives a remainder equal to 0. (False)
The statement is false because 10 divided by 10 equals 1 not 0.
f) 16 is a factor of 16. (True)
The statement is true because the factors of 16 are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16.
g) 1 is a factor to all whole numbers. (True)
The statement because 1 is a factor of a number, where a factor is a number that can
evenly divide a number.
h) Any whole number greater than 1 has at least two factors. (
The statement is true because a factor is a number that can evenly divide a number.
Then in addition to the number 1, any other number will have at least two factors, to
divide evenly a number.

4. a) The formula for the area of rectangle :

Area of rectangle = Length x Breadth or A = l × b
b) The formula for the area of square :
Area of a square = Side × Side = S2 square units
c) The formula for the area of triangle :
Area of a Right Triangle = ½ × Base × Height (Perpendicular distance) or
A = ½ (b × h) square units
5. a) A circle

tangen

 Arc is a portion of the circumference of a circle bounded by two distinct points.

More simply, it is a connected part of the circumference of a circle.
 Diameter is the line segment that passes through the center of the circle and has
its two endpoints on the circle. It is the longest distance from one end of the circle
to the other and its twice the radius.
 Radius is the line that joins the center of the circle to the outer boundary. It is
usually represented by ‘r’ or ‘R’. It is half the length of the diameter of the circle.
 Chord is a straight line joining two points on the circumference of the circle. The
diameter that passes thrugh the center of the circle is the longest chord of the
circle.
 Tangent is a straight line that touches the circle at a single point. The point where
the tangent touches the circle is called the “point of tangency” or the “point of
contact”. At the point of tangency, a tangent is perpendicular to the radius of the
circle.
 Segment is the region bounded by a chord of the circle and its associated arc. A
semicircle is the biggest segment of a circle.
 Sector is the part enclosed by two radii and the included arc of a circle.

b) Pi or π
π is a constant in mathematics which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its
diameter. The value of π is 3.14 or it could be 22/7. π appears in formulas for
calculating area and volume related to circles, such as ellipses, spheres, cones, and
toruses.
