3. Concrete culvert
4. Concrete gutter
5. Concrete bridge (if applicable)
6. Kalistone-lined gutter (if applicable)
7. Steel bar screen (if applicable)

1.2 PRODUCTS

A. Piping Materials: Refer to "Piping Applications" Paragraph for applications.

1. PVC Down Pipe of diameter < 14” should be unplasticed PVC and should be according to SII
0344-82; 150-4045 seri S-12.5, SII-1244-85, of Pralon, Rucika, Wavin or WIP Manufacture.
Wall thickness shall not be less than those specified in the following table:

Nominal 2” 3” 4” 8” 10” 12” 14”

Diameter (inch)
Minimum 2.4 3.5 4.2 7.7 7.4 12.1 13.4
Wall thickness (mm)
2. Under Ground Pipe and Culvert: Underground pipe and culvert shall be made of concrete of
grade K-250 (minimum) as specified in Division 3 – Concrete. The ground pipe is Dusaspun
manufacture of equal (concrete pipes with a diameter > 12” must be reinforced).

B. Collection Tank and manholes: Unless otherwise indicated on the drawing, collection tank and man-
holes shall be made of reinforced concrete of grade K-300 as specified in Division 3 – Concrete, with
type and dimensions as shown on the drawing.

C. Concrete Gutter: Lined-drain shall be made of reinforced concrete of grade K-300 as specified in Divi-
sion 3 –Concrete. Alignments, gradients, and dimensions shall be as indicated on the drawing. Unless
otherwise specified, the minimum thickness of the bottom and the wall of the drains shall be 150 mm.
To avoid sedimentation, the minimum slope of the gutter bottom is 0.5%.

D. Steel Cover Grill and Steel Bar Screen: Steel material and welding are specified in Division 5 – Metal
– Structural Steel. Shape and dimensions of the cover grill are as indicated on the drawing.

E. Curb Inlets: Made with vertical curb opening, of materials and dimensions according to utility stand-
ards.

F. Concrete: Cast in place according to ACI 318, ACI 350R, and the following:
1. Cement: ASTM C 150, Type I.
2. Fine Aggregate: ASTM C 33, sand.
3. Coarse Aggregate: ASTM C 33 crushed gravel.
4. Water: Clear.

G. Design mix for concrete gutter, manholes, collection tanks, control boxes, and other concrete struc-
tures for storm drainage: Proportion Normal-Weight concrete mix as follows:
1. Specified Compressive Strength (28 days): 300 kg/cm2 (K-300)
2. Maximum Slump: 120 mm
3. Maximum Water-Cementitious material ratio = 0.50

H. Kalistone masonry : Chopped kalistone boulder diameter 200-300 mm, apply with cement mortar 1:2.
Kalistone masonry drainage gutter should have plaster layer on the open wall top edges. Jsoint be-
tween stone should be smooth plastered.

1.3 EXECUTION

A. Excavating, trenching, and backfilling are specified in Division 3 Section 312000 "Earthwork."

B. Identification: Materials and their installation are specified in Division 3 Section 312000"Earthwork."
Arrange for installing green warning tapes directly over piping and at outside edges of underground
structures.

1. Use warning tape or detectable warning tape over ferrous piping.

2. Use detectable warning tape over nonferrous piping and over edges of underground struc-
tures.

C. General Locations and Arrangements: Drawing plans and details indicate general location and ar-
rangement of concrete gutter and underground storm drainage piping. Location and arrangement of
gutter and piping layout take design considerations into account. Install gutter and piping as indicat-
ed, to extent practical.

D. Install roof gutter, piping, and ground gutter beginning at low point, true to grades and alignment indi-
cated with unbroken continuity of invert

E. Use manholes for changes in direction, unless fittings are indicated. Use fittings for branch connec-
tions, unless direct tap into existing sewer is indicated.

F. Use proper size increasers, reducers, and couplings where different sizes or materials of pipes and fit-
tings are connected. Reducing size of piping in direction of flow is prohibited.

G. Install gravity-flow piping and connect to building's storm drains, of sizes and in locations indicated.
Terminate piping as indicated.
1. Install piping pitched down in direction of flow, at minimum slope of 0.5 percent, unless other-
wise indicated.
2. Install piping with 250 mm minimum cover.

H. Extend storm drainage piping and connect to building's storm drains, of sizes and in locations indicat-
ed. Terminate piping as indicated.

I. Manhole Installation: Install complete with appurtenances and accessories indicated.

1. Set tops of frames and covers flush with finished surface of manholes that occur in pavements.
Set tops 3 inches (76 mm) above finished surface elsewhere, unless otherwise indicated.
2. Install precast concrete manhole sections with gaskets according to ASTM C 891.

J. Concrete Placement: Place cast-in-place concrete according to ACI 318 and ACI 350R.

K. Install drains in locations indicated.

1. Embed drains in 4-inch (100-mm) minimum depth of concrete around bottom and sides.
2. Set drain frames and covers with tops flush with pavement surface.

L. Make connections to existing gutter and piping and underground structures so finished Work complies
as nearly as practical with requirements specified for new Work.

M. Protect existing gutter, piping, and structures to prevent concrete or debris from entering while making
tap connections. Remove debris or other extraneous material that may accumulate.

N. Clear interior of piping and structures of dirt and superfluous material as work progresses:
1. Place plug in end of incomplete gutter and piping at end of day and when work stops.
2. Flush piping between manholes and other structures to remove collected debris, if required by
authorities having jurisdiction.

O. Inspect interior of gutter and piping to determine whether line displacement or other damage has oc-
curred. Inspect after approximately 24 inches (600 mm) of backfill is in place, and again at completion
of Project.
1. Defects requiring correction include the following:
a. Alignment: Less than full diameter of inside of pipe is visible between structures.
b. Deflection: Flexible piping with deflection that prevents passage of ball or cylinder of
size not less than 92.5 percent of piping diameter.
c. Crushed, broken, cracked, or otherwise damaged piping.
d. Infiltration: Water leakage into piping.
e. Exfiltration: Water leakage from or around piping.
2. Replace defective piping using new materials, and repeat inspections until defects are within
allowances specified.
3. Re-inspect and repeat procedure until results are satisfactory.

P. Test new drainage gutter and piping systems according to authorities having jurisdiction.

Q. As Built Drawing: The contractor shall provide as built drawing of the new drainage gutter and piping
system in scale as specified by the Engineer, on the completion of the works.
