1260 Infinity SFC - Standard Preventive Maintenance Service Checklist

Agilent Preventive Maintenance (PM) provides factory recommended service for your systems to
assure reliable operation and the accuracy of your results. Delivered by highly-trained and
certified service engineers using genuine Agilent parts and supplies, Agilent Preventive
Maintenance provides everything you need to reduce unplanned downtime and keep your systems
operating at their peak.

Customer Information
• Customers should provide all necessary operating supplies upon request of the engineer.
• A customer representative should be available to the engineer while performing the
preventive maintenance procedures.
• Any parts, not included in the Parts Lists section of this document, are not part of the
recommended Preventive Maintenance service, nor are they included in the price of this
service.
• If a system requires the use of additional or special procedures and/or parts for the
instrument service, then these must be ordered separately and charged as a repair, which may
incur additional costs.

Service Engineers Responsibilities


Only complete/printout pages that relate to the system or module being serviced.
Complete empty fields with the relevant information.
Complete the relevant checkboxes in the checklist using a “X” or tick mark “” in the checkbox.
Complete Not Applicable check boxes to indicate services not delivered, as needed
Complete the PM service in the order of the task listed.
Complete the Service Review section together with the customer. In case of diagnostic tests,
record test results in section service review (test results).

Additional Instruction Notes


• Please exercise care when using solvents close to the instrument. It could damage the vapor
sensor present in the ELSD.

Preparation
 Discuss any specific issues with the customer prior to starting.
 Review the instrument logbook.
 Save instrument control settings before starting the procedure.
 Perform general inspection of system for cleanliness.
 Check for proper installation of safety-related parts, assemblies, sensors etc.
 Check for required firmware updates and verify with customers if they would like them
installed.
 Check for Lab Advisor updates and verify with customers if they would like them installed.
 Check for proper mounting and functionality of all leak sensors.
 Wash deposits from each leak sensor.

G4301A – Aurora Fusion A5


 Section NOT applicable
 Remove Booster pump Drawer.
 Drain Coolant and replace with fresh Coolant (300 mL).
 Reinstall Booster pump Drawer.
 Remove Thermal Isolation Cover Assy.
 Remove Booster Pump Head.
 Clean support ring and Piston.
 Replace booster pump seal.
 Reassemble pump head.
 Remove Check Valve (CV) Adapters.
 Replace Check Valves (inlet and outlet).
 Reassemble Thermal Isolation Cover Assy.
 Perform pressure sensor calibration using the Aurora diagnostic software.
 Perform system leak test.

G4302A – SFC BinPump


 Section NOT Applicable
 Remove and disassemble pump heads.
 Remove and clean plungers.
 Clean support rings.
 Replace pump seals.
 Reassemble pump head and install on metering drive.
 Perform seal wear-in procedure for standard seals ONLY (Channel B).
 On Channel A normal phase seal are installed, don’t perform the seal wear-in procedure.
 Purge valve: replace the PTFE frit, Seal Cap if deformed or cracked.
 Reinstall purge valve.

G4303A – SFC Autosampler


 Section NOT Applicable
 Replace rotor seal (3 groove).
 Replace the needle and the needle seat assembly.
 Clean the transport unit rods, using a lint free cloth and isopropanol. Don't use any lubricant
for the transport unit rods.
 Check that the ALS Thermostat units drain tube is positioned correctly (if applicable).
 Purge Autosampler with wash solvent using the Aurora wash pump for 3 min(6 times 30 s).
 Cap waste outlet of Aurora Fusion A5 with blank nut.
 Perform a Leak Check (Aurora diagnostic Software).

G1316C 1290 TCC


This maintenance procedure requires the following for each thermostatted column
compartment if valve heads are installed (G4230A/B, G4231A/B, G4232A/B, G4234A/B,
G4235A, G5631A, G5639A):
 Section NOT applicable
 Before disconnecting the columns, please record the columns and their position as a reference
for re-installation.
 Replace the rotor seal(s) and stator face(s) for each valve (not all valves have a stator face).
 If column switching valve rotor seal(s) and stator face(s) have been replaced, purge column
compartment with isopropanol for 5 min. Then cap one valve port of the column compartment
hosting the inlet valve with a blanking nut. Make sure that no columns are installed in the flow
path.
 Perform a Pressure Test with the limit set according to the max. pressure of the installed valve
head. (No test necessary if the G4235A is used as solvent selector.)
 Perform a Thermostat Test.
 Purge LC system with HPLC grade water for 10 min.

The maintenance procedure requires NO consumables
 Section NOT applicable
 Inspect flow cell for leaks.
 Perform filter test and attach results to checklist.
 Perform dark current test.
 Perform holmium oxide test. If test fails, perform wavelength calibration.
 Perform intensity test.

Service Checklist

Restore Instrument
 Return the instrument to initial conditions.

Guidance
If the PM service is performed prior to a qualification service, then use the qualification
procedure as a guide for final instrument set up and checkout.

Service Review
 Attach available reports/printouts of all tests to this documentation.
 Record the PM service activity in the customer’s instrument records/logbook
 Update/reset instrument maintenance counters as appropriate
 Affix the PM sticker to the system or instrument logbook based on the customer’s request.
 Complete the Service Engineer Comments section below if there are additional comments.
 Review the service and any test results with the customer.
 If the Instrument firmware was updated, record the details of the change in the Service
Engineer’s Comments box below or if necessary, in the customer’s IQ records.
