IX D BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH WRITING A PRIL

A biographical sketch is a brief summary of one’s physical appearance, professional, educational


accomplishments, publications meant to highlight important aspects of one’s training, experience
and areas of interest.

Include the following:


1. Name and age
2. Personality traits/qualities
3. Physical attributes (height, complexion, any prominent mark, weight etc.)
4. Strengths and weakness
5. Education and training
6. Contribution to the society (if any)
7. Likes /dislikes
8. Achievements ( if any)
9. Give an appropriate title.

Solved question: With the help of given clues, write a bio sketch of Subhash Chandra Bose in not
more than 100-120 words.

 Born: January 23, 1897
 Career: Civil Services
 Achievements: joined struggle, established Indian National Army
 Contribution: immense; freedom fighter
 Setback: retreat after the defeat of Japan and Germany
 Death: Air crash over Taipei, Taiwan (Formosa) on August 18, 1945

Subhash Chandra Bose

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was an Indian nationalist whose defiant patriotism made him a
hero in India, but whose attempt during World War II to rid India of British rule with the help
of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897. He
was admitted to the Protestant European School. He started the newspaper Swaraj. He stood for
unqualified self-governance, including the use of force against the British. Even when faced with
military setbacks, Bose was able to maintain support for the Azad Hind movement. Subhas
Chandra Bose died on 18 August 1945 after his overloaded Japanese plane crashed.
