STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The ever-evolving area of computer science has always grabbed my attention, and I began to learn coding in
school and jumped into the world of computer programming at the age of thirteen. I have always loved working
with computers and trying out new apps since I was young. Therefore it was natural for me to choose computer
science as my career prospective. With an undergraduate degree in computer engineering, pursuing my
master’s in this field will contribute to my overall development and will shape me to become a part of this
growing technology worldwide. As I reach the end of my undergraduate studies, my main ambition is to
continue my study in a more competitive, challenging, professional, and global atmosphere.
I have always seen computer science as a powerful combination of well-known subgroups as well as unfamiliar
territory packed with massive potential to change the world. My passion and enthusiasm to examine the field
of computer technology can be seen from my academic achievements as well as certifications. In my Secondary
School Certificate Examination (standard 10th), I have scored 98.75 percentile in state board. I have scored
61.43 percentile in Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (standard 12th) in state board. I am
currently enrolled in final semester i.e. 8th semester of B.E. and I have achieved 7.24 CGPA till semester 7. As a
part of high school course, I studied subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics. During that time, my
teachers recognised my abilities and discovered my interest in this field. From there, it was a sure bet that I
would be engrossed in the world of mathematics and computers.
They suggested me to continue in growing the scientific region and developing further knowledge in the field
of my interest. Their guidance along with my skills lead me to pursue an undergraduate degree - Bachelors of
Engineering in Computer Science from Dr. Subhash Technical Campus affiliated to Gujarat Technological
University. I joined this course to learn this technology deeply. As an undergraduate, in this four year course, I
acquired an overall perspective of this discipline, having particular interest in data analysis and information
system security. Throughout the study I oftenly encountered the term data, and admired data security and
management. When I had to choose the major for specialisation, I opted for masters in electrical and computer
engineering. Managing the security and data of real life information systems always fascinated me.
Right from the beginning of my college, I was interested in gaining practical knowledge. I learnt in practical
sessions more than theory lectures. Theory and textbook were a means of learning for me and they served as a
reference to me while I tried them practically. My knowledge is not restricted to written examinations. I have
participated in many online and on-campus workshops and seminars conducted by our institute. Those
workshops boosted my understanding. Some of the other regions I've acquired are Data Structures, Database
Management, Operating System, Computer Organization and Architecture, Object Oriented Programming, .NET
Technology, Microprocessor and Interfacing, Analysis and Design of Algorithm, Mobile Computing and Wireless
Technology, Theory of Computation and Principles of Compiler Design. In addition, I got grip over many
technologies like C, C++, Java, HTML, CSS, .NET, and PHP.
My academic project entitled “CareAware”, was the result of my desire to apply acquired technical skills in
practical applications. I was exposed to real time environment of application making through this project. This
project was about creating healthcare application for consultancy with health professionals on online platform.
Various other features such as health articles, providing notification for next appointment or dose completion,
counselling through voice calls and video calls etc. were added to the application. I defined this project in 2 nd
year of my undergraduate program and I worked on this definition as my final year project. As design
engineering project, this application was carried out in .net technology but I changed to python technology as
final year project.
Every work in life, either study, job or any activity demands dedication and determination. I think that every
work that I do or each activity that I perform mends me into a person that I am today. During my college years,
along with academics I was active participant of various undertakings. I was a part of cleanliness campaign, I
volunteered in save water awareness drive, both organised by my institute. I have host many events held at our
college campus. I believe that all these activities were a source of learning new things and shaping novel skills
in my own. These experiences have strengthened my capability to respond to people and taught me how to
deal with unexpected situations. Despite the fact that my primary focus was academics, I believe in adequate
extracurricular involvement and making pre - pro attempts to expand engagement in the co-working
environment and organizational sector.
I want to pursue a master's degree in computer science and would want to deepen my expertise in this field at
your reputable institute. My curiosity to know more about the fields that I just touched upon during my
undergraduate years is what drove me towards pursuing MS in COMPUTER ENGINEERING. I want to take this
knowledge further and claim complete proficiency in the field. Therefore, before entering the professional
world, I wish to learn all that I can on academic level. My long-term objective is to build a successful career in
IT and Computer sector and utilize its great potential in a variety of fields. This program of information system
security will fulfil my aspirations and provide me proficiency over skills that will steer me towards successful
career.
All these experiences indicate that I am very highly driven and proactive when it comes to acquiring new abilities
and having new experiences. This is why I've decided to continue pushing myself by enrolling in a graduate
program in Canada. Because of the Canada's unique variety and great combination of people and culture, it
provides the much-needed atmosphere for international exposure that one may hope to gain while studying a
Master's Degree. It is evident that the sort of atmosphere I am looking forward to experiencing, as well as the
comprehensive course I am planning to take, can only be experienced by studying abroad.

to your university for graduate studies. I came across to the program overview of Computer Engineering (MEng)
and realised that your university can perfectly train me. The course curriculum, application process, tuition fees

university which holds a promise of student’s development and broadens their horizons along with progressive
research and professional work.

requirements for achieving future goal. All in all, master’s degree in computer science at UNIVERSITY OF
CALGARY will avail better opportunities for me and will lead me to gain global experience. In order to pursue
