3. Pupils are divided into four big groups and each group is assigned to a
stanza. Teacher informs pupils that they have to think of possible
suggested actions based on the cats’ actions. Pupils pair up and think of
their possible actions.
4. Teacher conducts ‘Hot Seat’ activity where each pair comes in front.
Others can choose the four cats’ actions (scratching the backdoor,
scratching the gate, scratching the bee-hive or napping on a chair).

them to close it.

Pre-lesson: 1. worksheet
1. Teacher asks pupils if they keep a diary and in what form (written or digital). 2. textbook
Pupils share their thoughts.
Lesson delivery:
2. Pupils refer to page 28 Activity 1. Then, pupils refer to the dairy in pages 22-23.
3. Pupils read the questions and answer the questions orally in the class.
4. Pupils read Gemma’s Diary. Teacher asks pupils some questions such as Where is
the girl? What is she doing? Are diaries formal or informal? How do you know?
Pupil conduct a think-pair-share to discuss the questions.
5. Pupils refer to Activity 3. Pupils read the sentences and write how Gemma writes
it. Pupils are given some time answer by discussing. Teacher guides pupils with
clues.
6. Teacher asks pupils if anything in the diary was also true for them. Pupils share
their thoughts.
Post-lesson:
7. Pupils share with their friends what they did yesterday.
