HISTORY
F.lli Miano was established in 1971 on the
initiative of the Miano brothers. A small work-
shop represented the company’s first prem-
ises in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan).

In 2001 Euroslot was created with the pur-

pose to combine F.lli Miano’s extensive tech-
nical know-how in the field of single notching
with the organisation and international reach
of Eurogroup in the sector of electric ma-
chine components.

 PROGRESSIVE
AND COMPOUND BLANKING
Compound blanking is suitable for medium-
sized series or in cases where especially strict
tolerances are required with respect to the di-
mensional characteristics of the laminations.

Euroslot uses compound blanking technol-

ogy both to produce finished laminations
and semi-finished discs to be finished with
single-notching technology.

Progressive blanking is particularly well suited

to the production of large series. It makes
it possible to use multi-impression dies
which minimise lamination manufacturing
costs, though it entails a more important in-
vestment in tooling.

When volumes are sufficient to justify the

step up to progressive blanking, Euroslot
normally refers customers to Eurotranciatura,
the group’s specialist in this technology.

We have presses up to 800 tons and a

range of dies covering diameters of up to
1240 mm.

Technologies
SINGLE NOTCHING
Single notching, the historical technology
of F.lli Miano first and of Euroslot now, is
especially well suited to the production of
small series or large-size laminations.

The fast set-up times allow a great deal of

flexibility in production.
The presses, ranging from 2 to 20 tons,
can be either manual or automatic.

Euroslot has accumulated a vast array

of single notching dies, which are made
available to engineers to enable the
development of electric machines while
minimising tooling costs.

6 Technologies
 LASER CUTTING
Ideal for samples, prototypes or very small
series, since it does not entail any costs for
tooling. We can manufacture products from
steel sheets having a maximum size of 1250
× 2500 and thickness of up to 25 mm.

STACK ASSEMBLY
WELDING
The technology most often used at Euroslot
to assemble stacks is welding, be it TIG,
MIG or Plasma welding.

BACKLACK
Backlack technology involves the use of
magnetic sheet steel insulated with a ther-
mosetting polymer which reacts on being
exposed to a temperature of around 220°C,
causing the laminations to adhere together.
Among the available technologies, Backlack
gives the best result in terms of electrical
performance and strength.

STAPLING AND RIVETING

They are generally used to assemble small
to medium-sized stacks that do not need to
satisfy particularly strict requirements.
 DIE-CASTING
The machinery that our associate company
Alcast places at Eurogroup’s disposal en-
ables us to die cast up to 120 Kg of alumin-
ium in rotors up to 600 mm diameters and
1000 mm lenght.

MACHINING PROCESSES
Turning operations are normally carried out
on assembled stacks. We are internally
equipped to machine stacks having a di-
ameter up to 1300 mm and length of up to
2500 mm.
The turning of stacks of larger dimensions or
other machining processes are entrusted to
local partners.

8 Technologies
 SHAFT INSERTION
The assembly phase may also include the
insertion of shafts in the rotor cores. Euroslot
can arrange for the manufacture and supply
of shafts by relying on specialised partners,
or else use the shafts provided directly by the
customer for assembly. The equipment pres-
ently in our possession enables us to apply
shafts up to 3000 mm in length. Especially
cost-effective when advantage is taken of the
heat deriving from the die-casting operation
that Euroslot can offer.

ELECTRIC DISCHARGE
MACHINING
A numerically controlled wire EDM ma-
chine for the production of carbide and steel
blanking elements, used above all for the
rapid execution of prototypes and for quick
tool maintenance, provides Euroslot with the
independence needed when time is a critical
factor.

STATOR AND ROTOR LAMINATIONS

DESCRIPTION RANGE

We produce laminations up to a width Ø max 1240 mm

corresponding to the maximum widths of
commercially available sheet steel coils.

We also supply end plates for stators and Thickness

rotors, typically round, segments and max 25 mm
poles made of steel, copper and compo-
site materials.

The typical sheet thickness ranges from 0,20 to 2 mm.

TOOLING

DESCRIPTION

Euroslot internally designs and produces single-notching dies and

all the necessary equipment for stack assembly. It can also supply
progressive and compound blanking dies and die-casting moulds by
relying on Corrada, the Eurogroup company leader in this sector.
