- Based on what I have read about the letter of Rizal which for his Mother and his Brother, Rizal
encountered many struggles/ challenges in his life when he stayed in Germany and one of
those challenges was the weather but then despite of the cold, the wind and snow he still
continue going to the hospital to study ophthalmology. And because he was progressing fairly
in German and make himself understood. Another struggle that he encountered that he
haven’t found anyone knows Spanish but then again he spoke Tagalog once with a German
who stayed a long time at Singapore and who spoke Malay, although they couldn’t
understand each other, well nevertheless he still encountered many words similar to Tagalog.
On the article 2, it is very hard for not receiving any letters from his family where in he also
need their advice and need money to use in staying in German for his study, he may have a
country man nor true friend can support his need because he also need money.

The movie tells the life of Jose Rizal, the National hero of the Philippines. A three hour epic on
the life and struggles of his poet and patriotisms. It covers his life from his childhood to his execution at
the hands of the Spanish forces occupying the Philippine in the late 19th century. We are also thrown
into the world of Rizal's novels (filmed in black and white). So we get a glimpse he viewed Filipino
society under the Spanish heal. A film also through a series of flashback showing Rizal as a genius, a
writer, doctor, friend, doctor, a lover, and a son, thus giving a rich of Rizal's character.
The movie introduces us to the life of subjugation of the Filipino people under the rule of the
Spanish friars. From the execution of the three priests in 1872 for alleged subvertion to the harsh and
unequal treatment of Filipino students in the schools. The film is a stinging indictment of Spanish
colonial rule in the Philippines.
I particularly love the last part of the scene, Rizal fell in the ground facing the sky, having this last
breath looking at a beautiful sunrise. A metaphor depicting that Rizal did not die in vain. He did not die
for nothing. He died victorious because his death is the torch that lights Philippines Independence that
ignites Philippine Revolution.
