D. ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Petron Corporation is considered as the largest oil refining and market company that provides the
country's oil requirements. It is also a leading oil supplier in the Malaysian Market, wherein it has already
combined a refining capacity of 268,000 barrels per day. it is known to be a best oil company for both
Philippines and Malaysia, given that that it can produces full range world class fuels with petrochemicals, It
became remarkable especially in the lives of every Filipinos.

As greatly formulated, tested, and produced locally and internationally, Petron corporation is
extending its premium line of engine oils. It has exceeded the global standards with unique capability to
formulate additives. In Malaysia, petron contemplates a notable corporation which integrated refining,
marketing, and distribution. This is committed in the entire management in giving full-service experiences.

• HISTORY

 In 1933, Petron traces its heritage when Socony vacuum company of NYC and standard oil company
of New Jersey have merged to form as the standard vacuum oil company or Stanvac. 1967 was the start of
Stanvac to construct a refinery in the province of Bataan. In its time of inauguration 1961, the corporation
had a refining capacity of 25,000 barrels of oil per day. With the dissolution of Standard Oil and Socony
Vacuum in 1962, Esso Philippines has risen in the same year. It also introduced the first company bottle
LPG, Esso Gasul, together with high-octane gasoline called Esso extra
In 1973, the first oil crisis happened. Philippine National Oil Company or (PNOC0 purchases Esso
Philippines and later renamed it Petrophil Corporation. In the same period, the corporations able to keep the
consistency as the oil supplier in the country with continuous, reliable and safe oil.
The name petrophil transitioned to Petron Corporation in 1988. It has collaborated with the national
government during the trying times of the Philippines.

• FUNCTION AND DISTRIBUTION

Petron Corporation has a total of 32 facilities all over the archipelago. Thus, the corporation come up
with two transportation system such as road transport and marine transport

Road Transportation

The premium fuels are being transported via land tank trunks and delivered to over 2,400 service
stations and critical industries. Safety and Efficiency are the two major concerns of Petron corporation. They
are outfitted with cutting-edge technology to ensure that our high-quality products reach you in perfect
condition and on time.

Marine Transportation

For Marine Delivery, products or premium fuels delivers to over 30 terminals for storages. It uses
vessels and barges for security. the system has partnered with the leading marine transport firms to ensure
quality and continuity.
 • HUMAN RESOURCES

Division of the respective tasks within the Human Resource Department of the Petron corporation are
dealing with different issues such as the workforce planning, trainings, and outsourcing human strategies
(transportation of oil supplies and other provision of products. Each department, Comprising the HR
department of the company is composed of numerous professionals and employees such as HR associate
(Recruitment), HR Associate (Training), Accounting Clerk or Accountant, Administrative assistant, Area
Engineer, Area Sales executive, Budget and Economics engineer, Business planning Analyst, Marketing and
Procurement Associate and others.

• FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS

With the intensive capital and required substantial capital expenditures, Petron Corporation incurred
a significant debt to finance and its capital projects which creates a huge portion due in five years or less. It
had a 68.1 billion of long-term debt in the year 2016. This led the corporation to completely plan a capital
expenditure projects with debt servicing obligations. It will generate sufficient cash flows from operations and
finally obtain adequate additional financing. To draw the inference, the failure of finance of the Petron
corporation with its successful planned capital expenditure could have a negative impact on overall business,
as well as the financial conditions and operating systems.
 • MARKETING

In the new marketing campaign of Petron, the value of their pride for being the country's biggest and only
Filipino oil refiners have taken up to the next level. They are taking the customer delight to produce world
class products, exciting rewards and privileges and quality service.

• OPERATIONS

In terms of providing a good quality of their products, Petron can operate advanced refineries in the
region. Their source of crude oil came from the Middle east, which can produce 180,000 barrel per day
through Patron Bataan Refinery. the usage of Crude oil is considered as a raw material for the given products
namely LPG, diesel, and gasoline.

These products by Petron uses heat as the main component for separation. Other light substances
like Naphta, can be boiled more easily at the top distillation column. For heavier components such as fuel oil,
it can be collected at the bottom of the column. All of these products go through additional processes while
meeting high quality and environmental requirements. This is how the corporation create a premium fuel with
the most stringent emission standards.

The indicated organizational chart above of the Petron Corporation has a compliance with the voting
interests between subsidiaries and affiliates. The chart also acquires a required tender of offers to the other
shareholders.

E. REFLECTION/CONCLUSION

The vision of the Petron corporation is what it drives it functionality and effectiveness for improving more
all aspects of product services. It helps the community in fulfilling outstanding performance and objectives
with corporate strategies. Out of all the gathered information and factors in the company, organizational
structure serves as a guide to cater the people, including the employees, in a most specific and possible way.
The actions need to be taken such as the workforce and the execution of strategic plans come up with their
expertise with the best result. However, Petron does not limits their flexibility in doing tasks. it will still face
turbulence, specifically in the operational system but despite with the challenges on the production side,
Petron Corporation are open to adapt to the market situation while maintaining profitability and efficiency with
the best interest.

F. ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Ayala Land began as a real estate division of Ayala Corp. but was soon organized independently to
improve the company's focus on the real estate business. Its business activities include property
development, commercial leasing, and other services such as shopping centers. Medical care facilities the
company also strategically invests in other companies for additional revenue (for example, Malaysian
property developer MCT Bhd). As the country's leading property developer, Ayala Land capitalizes on prime
commercial spots throughout the country, managing over 8000 hectares of land to provide a diverse collection
of properties to many economic centers and communities.

Ayala overpasses societal and structural gaps by establishing impactful businesses and growing
them into industry-leading subsidiaries. A solid financial strategy with sustainability at its core drives long-
term value creation. This framework has enabled them to build strong franchises over decades by identifying
opportunities in emerging or disrupted industries.

Ayala Land originated and can be traced back to the development of uncharted land called Hacienda
Makati. It is now the country's leading financial and central business district since then.

After founded in 1988, Ayala Land was listed on the Makati and Manila Stock Exchanges in 1991.
The corporation is regarded as the country's leading real estate and property developer.

A partner in nation building

The real estate began to be partnered in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It now provides a property
format that includes several establishments such as residences, malls, offices, and leisure. All of it promotes
job creation and local economic growth.

The development necessitates the use of resources: Water, energy, and materials (steel and cement).
To avoid contributing to the continued depletion of the country's natural resources, Ayala Land uses it wisely
and efficiently to reduce both material consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. They also implement
sustainable development initiatives such as energy and water conservation, as well as waste diversion
programs.

Both mobility and connectivity are the most critical components of the master planned communities
created by Ayala Land. It provides the people with safe alternatives and motor vehicles when going around
the development. Moreover, all Ayala land developments have ample opportunities for commuting and
walking by establishing pedestrian-only zones, accessible walkaways, terminals, and transit stops. This result
in having a healthier environment by improving air quality and oil consumption.

With the corporation's success in building large scale projects, mixed used estates all over the
Philippines, they have also generated growth and progress for both employees and business itself. They
greatly contribute to the nation building which creates a great value for the community. Prioritizing local hiring

customers, and the overall society. From the top down, encouraging diversity is considered in the ranks of

Ayala land competes with the other developments and developers as a real estate business. In terms of
the reputations, price, quality and reliability, the attraction of the purchasers of both community and location
gains the retail and offices in a better and comprehensive way. The positive effect of financial and operational
performance of Ayala Land as a real estate company will impact on the company's ability to refinance or
repay its debt, including the Bonds Furthermore, the issuance of the Bonds should be evaluated in terms of
its influence on Ayala Land's consolidated indebtedness and the operational risks associated with a further
increase in its debt.

Through its construction and property management divisions, ayala land stays up to date on the latest
technologies, allowing it to implement existing sanitation, environmental, and safety laws and regulations at
a low cost, a strategy that has earned company awards from a variety of local and international organizations.
The recruitment of every organization within the Ayala land handled primarily by the talent management unit.
All openings and information should be made available by both external and internal channels. The company
already considers applicant's qualifications, skills, and experiences. All the benefits and compensation are
carefully reviewed and examined fairly.

They remain dedicated to ensuring that the provision for value to various stakeholders through

approach is geared toward continuous improvement for their employees and the communities they serve.
For nearly two centuries, their business leadership has been driven by rigor discipline and rigor, keeping

E. ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Fortune Tobacco Corporation was founded by a Chinese-born Filipino named Lucio Tan (Lucio Tan
| Filipino Entrepreneur, n.d.). He first studied chemical engineering at the Far Eastern University of Manila
before founding the company. He also worked as a janitor in a cigarette factory before being promoted to
tobacco cook. Lucio Tan eventually established his own tobacco company, Fortune Tobacco Corp., in
1966.In only 15 years, the company grew to become the largest cigarette manufacturer in the country. During
2010, Philip Morris International and Fortune Tobacco Corporation collaborated on an agreement to merge
their business operations into a new company called PMFTC Incorporated.

The history of Lucio Tan's Fortune Tobacco Company demonstrates that even a successful business
can be started from humble beginnings. Lucio Tan's learnings and experience as a janitor up to his job as a
tobacco cook inspired him to start his own business. Using your acquired knowledge and adding an
innovation or unique approach to it could lead to business success. Furthermore, achieving a specific goal
should not be the end of the line, wherein a business should continue to demonstrate its competitiveness
towards other companies.
F. REFLECTION/CONCLUSION

Fortune Tabacco Corporation is quite an interesting business because up to this day, it revolves
around the attainment of legal status. It also demonstrates a profile with a modern corporation, given that it
is founded in 1965. Although it disregards the safety of the people from having a healthy living, the
management of Fortune Tabacco is effective while conforming social norms.
