REFLECTIONS IN CHAPTER 1

1.Based on your own understanding, discuss what animal breeding is? What do you thing is the
importance of animal breeding with regards to your field of specialization?

As far as I'm aware, farmers breed animals for a variety of reasons, including higher output,
disease resistance, successful reproduction, and adaptability to environmental challenges, most
frequently heat and drought. Animals that are highly productive put a greater percentage of
their food intake into producing desired products like milk or meat rather than just keeping their
bodies healthy. A smaller number of animals need to be kept in a herd as backups due to
increased longevity and reproductive success, which also means that feed calories are focused
among the most productive animals.

2.What do you think are the importance of animal breeding in poultry and livestock production
industry?

Increased production and product quality, increased productivity and cost-effectiveness,

maintained genetic diversity, supported the preservation and use of specific breeds, and taken into
account animal welfare and sustainable systems are the more crucial tasks and requirements of
breeding programs.

3.What are the goals of animal breeding? And which among them is the most important to you? And
why?

The purpose of animal breeding programs is to sustainably exploit genetic variety. There are initiatives
to improve genetics both within and between breeds.Farm animals are continuously improved through
animal breeding from generation to generation. The best animals are used as parents after various
animal features have been evaluated. Breeders give livestock farmers a new generation of animals in
this way.

4.Search at least 2 published research papers in internet regarding to animal breeding and fill-out the
given table using your gathered research paper.
