RESEARCH TITLE:
ENCOURAGEMENT: FACTORS INFLUENCING HUMSS STUDENTS’ DECISION
ON TAKING BSED MAJOR IN SOCIAL SCIENCE AS A DEGREE AT ICC ON S.Y
2022-2023

BRIEF BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:

The number of enrollees for BSED major in (then) History in Immaculate

Concepcion College of Balayan Inc. is quite impressive when they first offered it, this is
according to the school registrar, however this doesn’t stay long and proof of this is the
turn out of enrollees for BSED major in (now) Social Science having only two students
for the 1st Year. The said turn out of enrollees is quite disappointing knowing that the
strand HUMSS in the same school is one of the strands to get a highest number of
enrollees in the previous years.
The aim of this research is to determine the problems, factors, ideas
influencing/affecting the students (specifically HUMSS student) whether to take or not to
take up Social Science (which is inline with their strand) in college. The researchers will
conduct interviews and surveys to encourage the students as well as to the teachers inline
with the said field to help us get into the bottom of this and will take us to our aim.
Seminars, talks, even symposium about the importance of studying Social
Sciences and its vital role in our community as well as in our society hopefully would
help us enlighten the minds and give our students better understanding about Social
Sciences and eventually will give them the idea of considering and getting the said
course/program when they get into college.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES/ STATEMENTS OF PROBLEMS:

General: [ idea: The purpose of this research is to identify the factors that influences
HUMSS students' decision to pursue a degree in Social Science as their Education Major. ]
Specific:
1.What is the status of enrolled students included on BSED Social Science?
2.How did students decide to take Social Science as their major in college?
3. What are the different programs that ICC will implement for increasing the number of students
taking Social Science?
4. How did Social Science Students help in increasing the numbers of students taking this major?
5. What plan of action is proposed to encourage HUMSS STUDENTS to take BSED major in
Social Science in college?

RESEARCH DESIGN:

The researchers will use descriptive method of research in defining the level of awareness
of the learners on FACTORS INFLUENCING HUMSS STUDENTS’ DECISION ON TAKING
BSED MAJOR IN SOCIAL SCIENCE AS A DEGREE AT ICC ON S.Y 2022-2023. According
to the website Provalis Research (2019), observational research allows researchers to see what
their subjects really do when confronted with various choices and situations. The term refers to
the study of non-experimental situations in which behavior is observed and recorded. It could
also be termed, “what’s going on or what she’s doing”. The research is classified non –
experimental because the variables are neither controlled nor manipulated. The results are both
qualitative and quantitative in nature.

SIGNIFICANCE: (Briefly discuss the importance of your study)

This study was indeed advantageous in any academic endeavor to the common interests
of varied individuals and groups. Listed below are benefited to the following:
To the faculty, in order to
To the students, in order to enlighten their minds and give better understanding about
Social Sciences and eventually will give them the idea of considering and getting the mentioned
course/program when they get into college.
To the future researchers, in order to have an additional study in what factors are
influencing students’ decision on taking BSED Major in Social Science as their degree.

RESEARCH TITLE: Flip Classroom: An interactive means of effective learning of the

HUMSS students of ICC S.Y 2022-2023
BRIEF BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:
Four years ago, chemistry instructors from Colorado. They spent for the software that
allowed them to record and document classes, then uploaded them online since they were
struggling to find the time to reteach lessons to missing pupils. Students who weren't present
welcomed the chance to catch up on what they missed. Unexpectedly, though, so did those who
hadn't skipped class. They also used the internet resources, mostly to review and reinforce what
they had learned in class. Soon they understood they had the chance to fundamentally alter how
they spent their class time. While there is no one style, the fundamental idea behind "the flipped
classroom" is to turn the typical teaching in that day. So, the purpose of this study was to
examine how HUMSS students' academic progress and satisfaction were affected by a flipped
classroom which is the reversal of the time allotted for lectures and homework and creative
learning activities. Three learning strategies traditional lecture only (LO), and lecture capture
back-up (LLC), and the flipped classroom strategy of lecture capture combined with creative
classroom activities—were compared using a quasi-experimental methodology (LCI).The study
revealed that students have positive attitude for the first and third factor mentioned whereas the
second factor is in neutral level.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES/ STATEMENTS OF PROBLEMS:
General: To identify how every HUMSS student adopts different learning strategies used
in the classroom.
Specific:
1. What is the current situation of the Student here in ICC?
2. How flip Classroom become more effective and accessible for the Humss student of Icc
3. What are the other learning strategies ICC has implemented?

RESEARCH DESIGN:

The researcher will use descriptive method of research in defining the level of awareness of the
learners on Flip Classroom: An interactive means of effective learning of the HUMSS students
of ICC S.Y 2022-2023

To the Administrators and staff, this study would help them to make steps or plans on how to
coordinate to the students interaction
To the teacher, this study would guide them to know other ways on maintaining stable
communication and well organized interaction in students.
To the future researchers, in order to have an additional study in interactive means of effective
learning of the HUMSS students in Icc.
To the respondents, this Study would help them to be learned and give their collaborative idea
to be informed to the Administrators.
