Sources of recruitment

Sources of recruitment
Deloitte uses both internal and external sources to recruit employees to fill the vacant positions.
Internal sources: Deloitte conduct employee review from time to time within a period of 2 years so that
certain positions can be filled through the already working staff of Deloitte.

The sources are as follows:

1. Transfers: Deloitte has 14 branches all across India in cities/ places such as Gurugram, Hyderabad,
Mumbai and Bengaluru. Gurugram and some other places also have USI branches of Deloitte which
are operated by Indians as well as Americans. Thus, Deloitte transfers employees across different
branches as well as different fields, for example, from financial analysts to marketing analyst.

2. Promotions: After conducting employee reviews and feedback sessions with employees, the
employers decide on whether the employee is fit for increased responsibilities and higher roles or not.
In case of a business analyst in Deloitte, the position starts from a junior analyst and after two years
they become senior analyst in their field. External sources: Depending entirely on internal sources is
not fully reliable as any company looks forward to receive new inputs with a diverse workforce. With
this concept in view, Deloitte hires employees from external sources.

External sources: Depending entirely on internal sources is not fully reliable as any company looks
forward to receive new inputs with a diverse workforce. With this concept in view, Deloitte hires
employees from external sources.

The sources are:

1. Campus recruitment: Through their campus connect programs Deloitte reaches out to campuses
across various course and across the country. They look for young talents who have an analytical mind,
can articulate their thoughts with confidence and logic, and can think out-of-the-box. Some of the
universities that Deloitte hirers go to are Ashoka University in Sonipat, NMIMS, Xavier’s and IIMs.

11 | P a g e
2. Employee Referral: The most commonly used external source is Employee Referrals and in case of
referrals it has a greater preference for experienced employees rather than for freshers. The number of
freshers hired as employees by the means of referrals are negligible.

3. Online application: Deloitte offers anyone with the required skills and education to apply in their
company for any branch. Deloitte has a full application process which is available on their website as
well as other platforms for job seekers such as LinkedIn.

 BEST RECRUITMENT STRATEGY

The best recruitment strategy for a business analyst involves many steps

1. Resume shortlisting: The hirers need to select employees on the basis of the degree and diversity
of software proficiency. From resumes they need to see the past work experiences of the
applicants.

2. Checking authenticity: The hirers need to make sure that correct information is provided in the
resume for which they call the referral numbers or contacts with which the applicants worked
previously.

12 | P a g e
3. Personal interview: A two-way communication and opportunity for the applicant to make a good
impression. An online or personal interview will be good methods of conducting interviews as
there are other criteria for finalizing the selection of an applicant.

4. Aptitude and software operation test: Aptitude test is common to almost all companies before
they hire an employee, but a great strategy is to test them on their proficiency of software by
testing them with real world problems and data to analyse. This is to see how their on-spot working
skills are.

5. Preference to Campus recruitment: The undergraduates and postgraduates have the most recent
learnings on software and technologies most recently used/ developed. As per the student’s course
plan, they are taught about the technological changes in the field of business analytics which is
really important to keep track in this industry.

13 | P a g e
 Technological factors influencing the job position

1. Proficiency in basic software - Business analysts typically rely on software such as Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, SQL, Google Analytics and Tableau. These tools help
them collect and sort data, create graphs, write documents and design visualizations to explain the
findings. Thus, any person applying for this post needs to be proficient with many such software.
2. Competitors – The consultancy service industry being a large one, the business analysts need to be
aware of their immediate business environment that includes how their competitors are working. One
of Deloitte’s major competitors is; thus, the analysts have to keep a check on technologies used or
created by their competitors.

3. Technological changes - The business environment is gradually moving towards new technologies
like machine learning, cloud computing, DevOps, and application portfolio optimization. Due to the
introduction of these new technologies, it is required for the business analyst to not only get
familiarized with them as soon as a new technology enters the industry but should also be adequately
proficient so that they can guide their respective organization.

4. Selection process - There are some technologies which are affordable when it comes to incorporate
them in recruitment. It enables the business to recruit many valuable people. The technology works
very fast in selecting people. There is an application tracking system that can manage all the
applications of candidates. This system also sorts the candidate in any desired order. The job openings
resume, skill level and a lot of other things can easily be seen through application tracking system.

5. Strategic planning made easier - There is a need of plan to be used to manage all the tasks that a
company needs for smooth operation and implementation of plans hence formed. The plan-making and
management depend on technology in this digitalized world. If someone uses technology, they will
have more strategic planning. Many metrics are required to be measured in the planning process. It
saves someone from having to spend a lot of money and time in conducting the process manually.
