A. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND COURSE INTENDED LEARNING
OUTCOMES (CD-CILOs/ Outcomes)
This course deals with how the students demonstrate their understanding about Drug Abuse Prevention and
Education Program of the government that includes recognition, nature and extent of drug problems; causes
and influence of drug abuse; origin, identification and classification of commonly abused drugs, prohibited
and regulated drugs and symptoms of drug abuse. This course also includes preventive drug abuse
education and information program in schools and communities; and treatment and rehabilitation program
for drug dependents.

At the end of the course, the learners are to: (1) Inculcate into their minds the true meaning of drugs, their
sources/origin and the history why not all drugs are legal, as well as what makes them illegal; (2) Value the
legal aspects of drug education and drug law enforcement; (3) Internalize fully the adverse effects of drugs
towards the individual, the environment and the public; (4) Embody the causes and influences of drug
abuse: (5) Articulate the control of drugs and its related vices: (6) Understand the basic identification,
classification and effects of dangerous drugs; (7) Specify the meaning, scope, and objectives of Dangerous
Drugs Law; and (8) to emphasize to the students how drugs influence an individual emotionally,
intellectually, psychologically, and socially that may result in the modification of attitudes that influence
behavior.

All these are achieved through (4.2.1.1) excellent instruction, relevant and responsive research and/ or
extension services, and quality assured production (4.3.1.1) of a true NOrSUnian with the core values of
SAPPHIRE needed to (4.1.1.1) become dynamic, competitive and globally responsive individuals.
