• 250M accidents with 335,000 fatalities.

fatalities take place annually.

• 31M workers of which 28M are employed;


• 17.3M are males;
• 10.6M are females; and
• 2.5M are aged 15-19 years old.

• Agriculture with highest number of
accidents followed by manufacturing
and construction.

• For every 100,000 workers, 666 receive


injuries that stop them from working for
about a day;
• Non-fatal injuries increase with age;
• Skilled agriculture and fishery workers have
the highest rates of injury

• About 2.5 million days are lost in a year, mostly
men
• Most injuries occur in SE’S with less than 20
workers
• Over 3,000 workers per year die as a result of
occupational injuries of work-related illnesses.

Inadequacy of Local Data due to:

• Low compliance rate of the Philippine


Occupational Safety and Health Standards
(OSHS)
• Limited coverage of the OSHS
• Absence of strict penalties
• Fragmented OSH administration
