She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona and completed 180 clinical hours in the emergency department. This experience enhanced her technical skills and ability to critically think and communicate effectively in stressful situations with limited time. Bobbi believes her time management skills, developed through managing her nursing school workload, honors thesis, employment, and leadership roles, would be an asset in the fast-paced emergency department. She is highly motivated to help others as a nurse having experienced traumatic injuries to her parents in a car accident that may have been fatal without emergency care.

Dear Nursing Recruiter, My name is Bobbi Jackson, and in the upcoming months, I look forward to graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona. I am overwhelmed with excitement to apply for a New Graduate Registered Nurse position within this hospital, specifically the emergency department. I am eager to work for this organization because I feel that this company’s ideals match with my personal objective of providing the most personalized and up to date evidenced-based care for patients. Recently, I completed 180 hours of clinical experience through my preceptorship within the emergency department which significantly enhanced my technical nursing skills as well as my ability to critically think. In addition to this, working in the emergency department has amplified my capabilities of completing tasks under stress with limited time and has significantly improved my interprofessional communication across the healthcare team. Because of this, I believe I would make an excellent candidate for this position as well as a beneficial addition to the emergency department team. Time management and leadership are essential skills in the field of nursing and could make the difference in saving a life. Throughout my education at the University of Arizona, I believe I have mastered this skill and significantly developed the ability to manage several priorities at the same time. In addition to graduating with my BSN in December, I will also be graduating with academic honors and completion of an extensive research-based thesis on the topic of emergency room overcrowding. As well as completing my honors program, I continued to stay employed throughout the entirety of nursing school. With these accomplishments, my time management skills prove to be effective and would contribute to the fast-paced environment of the emergency department. In terms of leadership, I am currently serving as the two executive chairs of treasurer and fundraising chair in the club of the Student Nurses at the University of Arizona. Because of this experience, I have become confident in my ability to lead my fellow peers with effective communication and organization. In addition to my acquired skills, I have the utmost motivation to become the best possible nurse I can as I have also been a patient. About eleven years ago, my parents, sibling, and I experienced a traumatic car accident in which both of my parents had life-threatening injuries. Without the immediate assistance of the emergency department nurses, both of my parents may not be with me today. With a chance to work in this emergency department, I would have the opportunity to give back the miracles that the nurses provided for my parents this day. With this, I truly believe that I would provide the experience, skills, and knowledge to fit the role of an emergency room nurse. I also look forward to and desire the chance that this opportunity would give me to learn and grow as a registered nurse. Thank you for your consideration of my application, and I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Bobbi Jackson
