Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics VI
I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the student should be able to:
 Visualizing and describe the different solid figures namely cube prism, pyramid,
cylinder, cone and sphere using various concrete and pictorial models;
 Differentiate solid figures from plane figures; and
 Identify the faces of a solid figure.
II. Subject Matter:

So, class our lesson for today is Visualizing

Solid Figures that Plane Figures are two –
dimensional shapes and they look flat.
They can be made of straight lines,
curved lines, or both.
While the Solid Figures are three –
dimensional objects, meaning they have
length, width and height. Because they have
three dimensions, they have depth and take
up space in our universe. Solid figure is
identified according to the features that are
unique to each type of solid. Specially, you
can observe the numbers of faces, edges,
and vertices, as well as the shape of the
base.
A solid figure that has all flat surfaces is a

polyhedron.
Each surface of polyhedron is a face.
Two faces of a polyhedron meet to form an
edge.
The edges meet to form a vertex.

have many solid figures inside, now what is
the shape of this box?

shape?
How about the top and the bottom? “Same ma’am”
So how many faces does the box have? “6 ma’am”
How about vertices? “8 ma’am”
And lastly how about the edges? “12 po ma’am”
Thus, the box has three-dimensional object?
