Week 2-3 Reflection paper about Concepts in Dressmaking

Dressmaking is defined as the craft of sewing clothes and dresses. An example of dressmaking is the
art of sewing a beautiful dress from fabric. Dressmakers help people enhance their body assets and
hide their flaws. Just like makeup, clothes are the basic things that can help in enhancing whatever
asset a person has and be able to hide whatever flaws that person wants to keep private. Tailoring is
an important aspect of fashion designing course which emphasizes more on the style or cut of the
garment and then sewn as per the fitting and body measurements. It can mean a whole new wardrobe
for women who feel like they never have the right fit. Tailors and dressmakers cut, sew, mend, and
alter clothing. Typically, tailors work only with menswear, such as suits, jackets, and coats, while
dressmakers work with women's clothing, including dresses, blouses, suits, evening wear, wedding
and bridesmaids gowns, and sportswear.

Sewing is a great marketable skill, and it never hurt anyone to have an extra skill set. You'll never
know when it might come in handy; on top of that, it may inspire you to learn some other skills
because you'll have more confidence than before you started as well. Sewing lets you express yourself
through your creations. From selecting the pattern and fabric to putting the finishing touches, every
aspect of this activity allows you to be creative while designing your own clothing. It also gives you
something to be proud of as your creations can make you stand out from the rest.
