So, Firstly we will understand what is organizational behavior and why is it

necessary.
So basically Organizational behavior is study of how people interact within
groups and its principles to make businesses operate more effectively. Basically
in a company if there is a larger workforce and the employees may be from
different gender, having different religious beliefs, different ethnicity and a
different geography and if they are required to perform the work together to
achieve the output then their behavior of attitude towards working together in
a group to perform a given task in a better way. This organizational behavior is
study of how people interact within groups and some principles are laid down
to achieve success. Since the success or the failure of the company or
organization depends on the individuals involved.
SO, it is very important aspect of the organization success.
Then read the slide.

Slide 3
Now , there are two types of capital we are dealing with, first is human capital
and the second is social capital. Let’s now first try to understand what is
human capital.
Human capital represents the workers employed by the company.
Human capital is one of the major importance in the success of organization.
As if the workers employed are skilled then the performance of the company
will increase.
Human skill refers to the skills that the employees acquire from education,
training and job experience. When the existing human resource is further
educated and health facilities are extended to all the people then it is called
human capital formation.
The investment done in human capital makes the resources highly educated
and trained which yield higher productivity.
Human capital is more important than the other resources such as physical
capital, Human capital can utilize physical capital, but physical capital cannot
become useful themselves.

Slide 4
Now we will discuss about the skills that improve human capital.
1. Empathy and compassion – Having empathy and compassion means
genuinely caring for someone. If a new employee or recruit enters the
organization and is allotted to work with the team, if the other team
members don’t show empathy then he will feel left out and the
productivity of the team will go low. If there is sense of oneness in the
team in which all team members care of each other then the team
output will be highly productive.
2. Communication: Strong communication skill is very important, because
the work that needs to be done must be clearly communicated with the
team members and the assignment of the work that who has what role
to do … that will make the work easier.
3. Adaptability: - Flexibility and adaptability are skills that are essential for
staying optimistic and optimistic person can overcome any difficult
situation and be more resourceful and innovative to solve problems and
adapt to situation easily to perform better.
4. Coaching – Skill development of the employees is very much important.
The skilled worker output is very much higher than unskilled worker.
This coaching or skill development culture will create an environment
where employees feel supported in their growth. This helps in long term
growth of organization.
5. Trust Building – when people working in a team or organization trust
each other, they feel safe and are able to trust others.

Now, In the next slide we will discuss about Social Capital.

Slide 5
Social Capital is the value that an individual or employee receives as a result of their social
relationships and connections.

Social capital is like the bond that people have through friendship or daily social interaction like
the person sitting next in train while travelling for work.

It is the knowledge and ability to call the right person for help in a certain situation.

The key components are:

1. Trust , Level of cohesion, sense of community and belonging , unrestricted and

participative communication, decision making and sense of collective responsibility.

The example of social capital implementation is the workplace, when we get to know people at
workplace, we get to know people better. They can help us to do better at jobs, they can help in get
promotion at later stage which will be greater economic capita. Similarly people at workplace live
close to us so they can become reliable people in our communities and help outside of workplace
when needed.

Suppose in IT Industry, I get onsite to UK, and that place is just new for me, the social capital will be
more important there, the co-workers working there can help me out to settle ….. that is also a
perfect example of social capital.
