A. Introduction Presentation
Panimula 1 hour In this lesson, you will discover the knowledge, skills and attitudes in performing Weld
Carbon Steel Plates in Overhead Position (4F). It is important to learn the overhead.
safe welding practices.

Safety is a critical consideration for any welding project. Arc welding is a safe occupation
when proper precautions are taken, but if safety measures are ignored, welders face an
array of hazards that can be potentially dangerous, including electric shock, fumes and
gases, fire, explosions, and more.

Welding operators face an array of hazards. To help keep welders safe, organizations
such as the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and OSHA offer
safety guidelines to help control, minimize, or to help employers and workers avoid
welding hazards. Employers should ensure that all workers have an opportunity to comply
with the following important guidelines in the workplace:

Name at least 4 possible hazards in overhead welding to avoid, mentioned in the

D. Assimilation 1 hour
Paglalapat Ensuring high levels of safety is vital when undertaking any welding activity. Ignoring your
PPE and safe working practices can have serious repercussions and might even lead to
fatalities.

Good ventilation is important when welding as it removes airborne gases and particles from
your work area. You may need to employ a combination of ventilation strategies to
combat all the pollutants created in the welding process. You might also need to use
respirators if your ventilation strategies don’t reduce your exposure enough.

You should avoid keeping flammable materials in the vicinity of welding processes as
Suggested

sparks, heat and molten metal splatters produced in the welding process could potentially
set flammable material on fire.
Learning Task # 4:
Answer the following questions using your idea based on the information given. In each
question your answer must be at least 50 words or more. For this activity use another sheet
of paper then write your name, week number and the Learning Task number.
