You have been to a food festival.

Write a letter to your English-speaking friend, James:

• mention what you did at the festival.

• describe the dishes you tried there.

• tell your friend about a competition you took part in.

Dear James,
My happiness knew no boundaries when I saw I got a letter from you. How have you been?
Hope my letter finds you in a pinkest of health. I am so exited to tell you about the event that
I’ve recently visited.
As you probably know, I’m sort of addicted to tasty food. So last week me and my friend Juno,
you probably heard of from my last letters, visited a food festival. It was an amazing experience.
The festival was held not so far from the place where I live. To be honest, the atmosphere here
was breathtaking! We had a great time hanging out and even made friends with people I
already knew from the college. We had some drinks and gossiped a lot.
I tasted loads of food on this festival. First of all, I tried some spicy chicken. After that, some guy
offered me to take a bite of a real Mexican taco. As I got a bit bored of spicy food and my
mouth was really on fire, I wanted to eat something sweet. You know, I’m not a sweet junkie.
However, the chocolate cake I tried here was beyond any praise.
But eating food was not the only fun activity here. To add the element of excitement to the
festival, people took part in an interesting competition. I was one of the competitors. Basically,
the task was to eat as many cheeseburgers as you can in one minute. I ate four and I almost
won but there was this guy who ate six of them. This didn’t frustrate me at all as I still got some
little souvenirs as a prize.
Well, that’s all for now. I have a strong hope that one day we’ll visit a festival like this together.
Have you ever been to this kind of events? If yes, I’d like you to share your experience in the
next letter. Though we are not together, it’s a huge relief that we keep in touch. Pay my
heartiest regards to your parents and don’t forget to write me when you’re free.
Love,
Alice
