Mama's 74th (AutoRecovered)
Mel: A very good evening to each and every one and welcome to Mary’s 74th
Birthday Party. We would like to thank everyone for gracing this very
momentous occasion because as they say, “ you only get to be 74 once.”
Mel: Tonight calls for a celebration and it is our distinct pleasure to introduce
to you, the reason why we are all gathered here ladies and gentlemen, let me
call on her daughter’s Heyna & Yvonne, to give a brief description for the
celebrant’s life.
yvonne: Everyone has different attitudes towards relatives, but, perhaps, mothers have a
significant role for everyone. Isn’t it so for you?
Without any doubt, my mother is the most important person in my life. She is very beautiful and has
the most loving eyes that I have ever seen. She not only worked hard to ensure that I had a good
upbringing, but was also very strict and often punished me whenever I went wrong. Even though I did
not like the punishment then, I now look back and realize that it was meant to lovingly correct me and
help me to follow the right path when growing up.
Heyna: My siblings and I have always taken pride in the appearance of our mother,
especially that she is half American (and that made us ¼ American) maong mga gwapa
mi (laughs). I remember when I was a kid I would often hear people saying “nga gwapa
akong mama” Even though I have seen a lot of beautiful people, for us her children
among mama gyud ang pinaka gwapa! Isn’t it for all of us?
One of the reasons that I and my siblings were especially fond of my mother is the way
she used to take great care of us, especially when we were ill. She is a very
knowledgeable who made a variety of home remedies take care of the minor illnesses
that we had as children, and we can’t be more thankful for that.
Heyna&Yvonne: So without further ado, let us all rise and give a warm round
of applause, would you please welcome, our beautiful birthday celebrant / our
mother Katherine Margarette Martin.
WELCOME REMARKS/TOAST
Leeza: And now to give a speech and a toast in honor of our birthday celebrant
we would like to ask his son Allan on the stage.
Allan: Ladies and gentlemen I want to raise a glass to an amazing woman and
a wonderful mother. Words cannot express the way we feel towards you as
you continue to radiate your happiness to each and every one of us your
children. I would like us all to raise a glass to wish our mother a happy happy
birthday!
CHEERS!!!!!
Leeza : Thank you everyone, At this moment, are we ready to move and
groove? I can’t hear you all! Again, are we ready to move and groove? Ladies
and gentlemen, here’s a dance number from our celebrant’s daughters,
granddaughters and friends…
Leeza and Mel: Let’s put our hands together for Mary’s family and friends…
Mel: That was a lovely performance so why don’t we give them a big round of
applause Ladies and gentlemen…
Leeza: At this point of time We will proceed to our next program which will
be a dance tribute for our birthday celebrant starting off with Gerardo ( and all
siblings will follow)
Mel: PRAYER OF GRACE We are nearing the most awaited part of the
evening, dinner… but before we partake of the food, may we now call on Ms.
Charmaine Tejano to say grace…
Father, when we thank you for your goodness and faithfulness each day; we're
convinced that is it not by who or what we do. It is solely by your grace that
we are who we are and can do all that we do. We are very grateful for the
celebrant. We are grateful for how far you've brought her. We are grateful for
the 74 years of her life and love. We are grateful that you've put her in our
lives. Father, we thank you for the food that we are about to eat and we ask
you to bless the food as well as the hands who prepared it, We thank you For
these and many more, and we thank you that today is a success already. We
speak of your blessing and knowledge in all of our activities today. Amen.
BLOWING OF CANDLES:
Mel: Let me share another good-to-know trivia to everyone on how birthday
cakes and candles came about as a tradition during birthdays. Some believe
that the tradition of birthday candles began in Ancient Greece. Putting candles
on a cake was a special way to pay tribute to the Greek moon goddess,
Artemis. They baked round cakes to symbolize the moon. Candles were added
to represent the reflected moonlight. Today’s tradition of making wishes before
blowing out the birthday candles may have started with that belief. Enough of
all those did-you-know trivia because at this part of the program, our birthday
celebrant will blow the candles on her birthday cake. And to complete that
customary practice, let us all sing joyfully a song I am very sure everybody is
familiar with, the happy birthday song!
Mel: The night is young, and so are we, are we not? Are you ready to party?
We have just actually started. Again, thank you for having us here to celebrate
with all of you. Lets all shout a loud “Happy birthday, Mama! everybody. At
the count of three…1, 2, 3, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mama! To get the party
started, throw your hands up in the air for our celebrant (play song “ can’t take
my eyes of you”) This is your host, Leeza and Mel, enjoy rest of the night
everyone!
