3. ⃗ added to 𝐶𝐶⃗ = 3𝚤𝚤̂ + 4𝚥𝚥̂, the result is a vector in the positive direction of the y axis, with a magnitude equal
If is 𝐵𝐵
to that of 𝐶𝐶⃗ . What is the magnitude of 𝐵𝐵 ⃗?

4. A cart is propelled over an 𝑥𝑥𝑥𝑥 plane with acceleration components 𝑎𝑎𝑥𝑥 = 4 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−2 and 𝑎𝑎𝑦𝑦 = −2 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−2 . Its
initial velocity has components 𝑣𝑣0𝑥𝑥 = 4 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−1 and 𝑣𝑣0𝑦𝑦 = 12 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−1 . In unit-vector notation, what is the velocity
of the cart when it reaches its greatest y coordinate?

5. In Figure-1, particle A moves along the line 𝑦𝑦 = 30 𝑚𝑚 with a constant velocity 𝑣𝑣⃗ of magnitude 3 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−1 and
parallel to the 𝑥𝑥 axis. At the instant particle A passes the y axis, particle B leaves the origin with a zero initial
speed and a constant acceleration 𝑎𝑎⃗ of magnitude 0.40 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−2 . What angle 𝜃𝜃 between 𝑎𝑎⃗ and the positive
direction of the y axis would result in a collision?

6. In Figure-2, a stone is projected at a cliff of height ℎ with an initial speed of 42.0 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−1 directed at angle 𝜃𝜃0 =
60.0° above the horizontal. The stone strikes at A, 5.50 𝑠𝑠 after launching. Find (a) the height ℎ of the cliff, (b)
the speed of the stone just before impact at A, and (c) the maximum height 𝐻𝐻 reached above the ground.

7. In 1939 or 1940, Emanuel Zacchini took his human cannonball act to an extreme: After being shot from a
cannon, he soared over three Ferris wheels and into a net (Figure-3). Assume that he is launched with a speed
of 26.5 𝑚𝑚𝑠𝑠−1 and at an angle of 53.0°. (a) Treating him as a particle, calculate his clearance over the first
wheel. (b) If he reached maximum height over the middle wheel, by how much did he clear it? (c) How far
from the cannon should the net’s center have been positioned (neglect air drag)?

8. In Figure-4, a ball is thrown up onto a roof, landing 4.00 𝑠𝑠 later at height ℎ = 20.0 𝑚𝑚 above the release level.
The ball’s path just before landing is angled at θ = 60.0° with the roof. (a) Find the horizontal distance 𝑑𝑑 it
