“Ding! Ding! Ding!

”, the bell rang for the first period and everyone was rushing to
their classes. I was still rummaging through my bag trying to find the new
timetable that was given to me over the Christmas break.
“Ugh, Me hate history! Mr. Evans never mek me participate inah none a him class
dem” I murmured to myself.
As I walked into the class to take my seat, Mr.Evans walked up to me.
“You’re late, you know I don’t tolerate students who disobey me. Stay after school
for detention and don’t be late.” He ordered.
“But sir a me timetable me did a look fah.” I replied hoping that he would
reconsider his punishment.
“No buts Vanessa, every action comes with consequences, you come to my class
late, you get detention now go have a seat.” He responded.
I could hear laughter and whisper from students in the classroom. So I immediately
hurried to my seat still in shock of what just took place. I was so embarrassed but
more furious as it was the start of a new school term and I couldn’t imagine how a
detention on the first day would look on my file. It was obvious that Mr. Evans
despised me. From the first day I started his class, he has only displayed
maliciousness and resentment towards me. I have never submitted an assignment
late nor misbehaved in his class so there was no possible explanation for his
behavior.
School was dismissed and it was time to go back to his class for detention. I
went into the class and took a seat then he came up to me and told me to write a
500 word essay on Shakespearean sonnet. He took a seat at his desk and started
scrolling through his phone. While writing the paper I could sense him staring
vigorously at me from time to time, and every time I looked up he would pretend
as if he was doing something productive. Nevertheless, I ignored him and
continued to write my essay. I cleared my throat, and without looking up at me he
raised his eyebrows.
“Yes, Vanessa?”
“Me done, sir.” I replied
“Ok then, so let me see it” he responded as he looked up at me.
I walked up to his desk and handed him the essay. He started reading the first
paragraph then he made a slight pause as if he was unsatisfied with what I wrote.
“ This is not done correctly, go and write it over now!” he demanded.
“ You serious sir? You not even finish read it yet” I responded.
“It doesn't matter, if I tell you to do something you do it” he replied as he gave me
back the paper.
“Me convince she you hate me enuh! Wah me ever do you?” I yelled.
Instead of answering the question he sat behind his desk in silence. For the first
time he had nothing to say, it was as if he became mysteriously dumb. I went back
to my seat to grab my bag and as I turned around there he was standing in front of
me.
“ I don’t hate you how could you say such a thing, when I wake up you’re the first
thing I yearn for and it upsets me that I can’t have you.” He said as he declared his
love for me.
I stood there speechless trying to process the words that came out of his words. But
little did he know I felt the same way about him. He slowly reaches out to hold my
hands as we stared into each other eyes.
It started out with a kiss then it happened, he took my innocence. Right after he
sent me home pretending like nothing happened.
A month went by and there was no sign of my period. It took awhile for me to
face the reality that he was just my teacher, but it was too late the damage was
already done.
Weeks went by and
