NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORTS ON GULAYAN

SA PAARALAN PROJECT
I. INTRODUCTION

The school has been a basic foundation of skills and learning and is the ideal point for a
project. One of the projects implemented by _____________________ is the “Gulayan sa Paaralan,”
and full support for the DepEd Memo No. 295, series 2007.

It encourages and promotes the school children to plant green leafy vegetables at home and
in school backyard garden areas as part of their sharing and implements consumption of vegetables
among their community for a better healthy and balanced diet.

II. OBJECTIVES

● To awaken the pupil’s consciousness, the realization of how essential vegetables are, their
nutrients, their vitamins, and the effect of healthy living.
● To increase their awareness of hunger issues and actions to mitigate malnutrition in their
family.
● To encourage every community to cooperate and share the reproduction of green leafy
vegetables in their backyard garden.

III. ACCOMPLISHMENT

A. PRE-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

I. Mobilization and Organizing Implementation

a. Inform the parents and teachers about the Grant. Tell the coverage of expenditure to be
undertaken.
b. Create working committees needed.
c. Create guidelines for the proper implementation of the project.
II. Implementation of the Project
a. Each class shall work with the HRPTA to realize the above-cited objectives.

B. IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

Elementary Agriculture teaches agriculture, natural resources, and land management through hands-
on experience and guidance to prepare students for entry-level jobs and further education for
advanced agricultural jobs. It is taught in public schools and deals with such subjects as how plants
and animals grow and how soil is farmed and conserved. School gardens are cultivation areas or
laboratories around or near schools for producing fruits and vegetables. The promotion of school
gardens usually aims towards different objectives, giving pupils knowledge and skills for better
agricultural productivity and sustainable agricultural practices. Environmental education is sustainable
and practical, changing attitudes towards agriculture and rural life, increasing school attendance,
school feeding, creating income, and improving food diversity to combat micronutrient deficiencies
among school children and improve overall food security.
The production of fruits and vegetables in the school garden and the subsequent preparation of
health in close cooperation with the parents within the school premises can address the health and
nutrition problems in the school. But the more significant issue of malnutrition, especially among
children, is that it ultimately leads to stunted mental and physical growth, poor comprehension, and
lower performance in school. According to the teachers, many children come to school with an empty
stomach. Hungry, unhealthy children cannot concentrate on learning.
The vegetables being harvested were used in the Free Feeding Program, and through this program,
our pupils became healthier and more attentive, performing better in school.
Pupils not only learned how to reproduce vegetables, but they were encouraged to eat green and
leafy vegetables as well. So, vegetable production through Elementary Agriculture must be given
emphasis.

C. POST-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

The programs/ activities shall be monitored by chairpersons of the different committees with the
supervision of the School Head. All actions shall be documented and supported with photos. The
school is also looking forward to continuing this program next school year.

V. DOCUMENTATION
