2 Corinthians 4:4
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t
believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t
understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of
God.
2 Corinthians 4:4 GW
4 The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. As a
result, they don’t see the light of the Good News about Christ’s glory. It is
Christ who is God’s image.
2 Corinthians 4:4
Easy-to-Read Version
4 The ruler[a] of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They
cannot see the light of the Good News—the message about the divine greatness of
Christ. Christ is the one who is exactly like God.
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his
Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
ACTIVE FAITH
FAith without action is dead
James 2:14-16
14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t
show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a
brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a
good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or
clothing. What good does that do?
17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is
dead and useless.
ACTIVE LOVE
ROMANS 14:15-18
15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no
longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.
16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the
kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace
and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is
pleasing to God and receives human approval.
19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual
edification.
ACTIVE SPIRIT
14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd:
“Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you;
listen carefully to what I say. 15These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s
only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17“ ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.
