I. Introduction
The Department of Education envisions the Gulayan sa
Paaralan as a way to solve the country's hunger and
malnutrition issues. It's part of the department's poverty-relief
efforts. It will raise public knowledge about the benefits of
school, home, and community gardens in terms of health,
nutrition, and economics.
Hunger and malnutrition have driven impoverished
students to drop out of school in order to assist their parents
make ends meet. It also instills values like as excellent health
and nutrition, industry, labor love, and compassion for others.
The program's goal is to encourage students to produce
their own vegetables in the school garden and to create
community garden clubs. It is a method of reducing or
eliminating hunger, particularly in places where school-aged
children are malnourished.

II. Accomplishment
To support the program’s aims in mitigating hunger
and malnutrition, Desamparados Elementary School put
up a Gulayan sa Paaralan with joint efforts of the teachers,
community set forth positive outcomes.
The school was able to materialize a vegetable garden
composed of crops such as eggplant,sweet potatoes,
tomatoes, pine apple and string beans. The produce of the
Gulayan are used in the feeding of the school with utmost
priority given to the underweight.
Feeding program is conducted twice a week and it is
the evident that the number of underweight pupils was
reduced.
