OFFICE OF THE PUNONG BARANGAY
WHEREAS, Section 16 of the Local Government Code of 1991 provides in part that every
local government unit shall exercise power expressly granted, and those which are essential to
the promotion of the general welfare of its inhabitants;
WHEREAS, the Barangay Development Council (BDC) serves as the planning and
advisory body of the barangay that set its economic and social development undertakings;
WHEREAS, as a planning body, the BDC has the primary responsibility of initiating the
coming up of a local development plan that embodies the identified and prioritized programs,
projects and activities of the LGU based on the problems, needs and aspirations of the
community;
WHEREAS, with the new set of barangay officials assuming office, it is but proper and
fitting to reorganize the Barangay Development Council;

Section 3. The secretariat of the BDC shall be headed by the barangay secretary who
shall be assisted by the municipal planning and development coordinator. The
secretariat shall be responsible for providing technical support, documentation of
proceedings; preparation of reports and such other assistance as may be
required in the discharge of its functions.
Section 4. The Barangay Development Council shall meet at least once every six (6) months
or as often as may be necessary.
