2nd Semester, A.Y. 2022-2023
Fourth Revision
Vision: An ecologically responsive University in Southern Philippines that fosters a culture of innovation and sustainability on the quality of lives of the
community it serves.
Mission: The University shall primarily provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in the fields of
agriculture, fisheries, engineering, information and communication technology, arts and sciences, education, business administration and
management, health sciences and other relevant fields of study. It shall also undertake research, extension services and production activities in
support of the socioeconomic development of the Province of Misamis Occidental, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of
specialization.
SAS Objectives: 1. Equip the students with professional competence within a field of specialization in the arts and sciences to become productive members of the
local community.
2. Instill the students to value creativity and resourcefulness and engage them in the preservation, conservation, and promotion of Filipino
culture and heritage through research and community extension activities or service.
3. Integrate the NMSCST’s Core Values in the curriculum as well as in co-curricular activities to incessantly mold the hearts and minds of the
students.

COURSE INFORMATION
Course Art Appreciation is a three-unit course that develops students' ability to appreciate, analyze, and critique works of art. Through interdisciplinary
Description: and multimodal approaches, this course equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical, and social relevance
of the arts in order to hone students' ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops students' competency in
researching and curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating art productions. The course aims to develop students' genuine
appreciation for Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and richness and their rootedness in Filipino culture.

Quizzes/Assignments/Major Exams
Quizzes are announced and unannounced.
No credit shall be given to late submissions.
The major examinations are compulsory and failure to take the final exam will result in an INC grade (Article V, Section 21, VI –
Student Manual).
A student is not allowed to take the examination without a valid examination permit (Article 5, Section 20, IV - Student Manual).
The following cases shall be considered valid to take special examination: sickness, accident, death of immediate member of the family,
unwanted environmental conditions (Article 5, Section 20, VI - Student Manual).
The special examination is within one week after the scheduled examination and students is allowed to take upon presentation of special
examination permit (Article 5, Section 20, VI - Student Manual).
Student is considered late if he is not in the classroom within 15 mins after the start of the class. Three instances of being late are
regarded as one day absent. Any student who incurred absences more than 20% of the total number of the course even excused is
declared “dropped” (Article 5, Section 19, Student Manual).

Class Participation and Attendance
Class participation is encouraged; however, a polite attitude and manner of speech will be expected of all students towards each other
and towards the instructor, at all times.
No hats or caps will be worn during class in order not to obstruct the view of the instructor or other students.
Cellphones should be in a silent mode during classes.
Students are required to always wear the NMSCST ID while inside the classroom.
Classes missed because of late enrollment are considered absences.
Student is considered late if he is not in the classroom within 15 minutes after the start of the class.

A student considered as absent if he arrives beyond 15 minutes after the start of the class.
Absence (excused or unexcused) does not absolve the student from doing the work or assignment covered by the class during his
