What are the pros and cons of media?

since the media influence is a part of the society and


us? As a member of the society, we also have to be
aware the pro’s(good) and the cons (bad) of the
media.

PRO’S
1.Media provide wide variety of information we
need to keep updated with happenings in our
community, surroundings, country and the world.
For example is the news, alert and updates from our
media authorities.
2. keeping us connected with family , friends and
acquittances worldwide , keeping the ties and
meeting new people via social media like Facebook,
Instagram, messenger, viber and all other social
media platforms.
3. Provides us instant access to entertainment like
movies , music , game, and all other media
applications.
4. Promotes education and quick access to gathering
information and research to help us students on our
school works and projects. For example , are google
yahoo and all other search engines

5. When covid pandemic hits media created online


classes , home based jobs , and zoom meetings to
keep us safe in our own homes. And also provide us
the convenience to still continue out studies and
work during the course of the virus to the reason to
still keep going despite of the challenges we faced .
6.Lastly it enables people to share their ideas and
opinions with other people. You can showcase your
creativity, talent and abilities , do your marketing
strategies to enhance your business and also build
news skills and learning new things. For example:
content creators , vloggers , food critics , travel
enthusiast ,online business and more…
then along with the PRO’S or the ‘Good’ comes
with the disadvantages and consequences when
using the media these are the con’s or the Bad’

And what are these?


CON’S
1.Loss of contact in the reality ,when it comes in
communication, we got use to chat, calls and video
calls and we forget the feeling of having the actual
conversation with people. It can lower our self -
esteem loss of confidence and we can feel a little
uncomfortable when meeting the real time face to
face discussion with other people.

2.Result into lack of quality time with family, media


sometime in causing distance among people and it
can be an obstacle in their relationship. In the past,
our mom and dads used to play and spend time with
their family and friends over coffee, board games,
play tag over a nice dinner. Nowadays we don’t do
any of that, people tend to spend their time with their
phones, TV’s and computers. This can result to
broken relationship, family drifting away from each
other and taking away the closeness among our
family and relatives .
3. Leads to addiction , Who said drugs and alcohol
is the only thing that can turn you into an addict.
When you love playing games, watching movies and
other media application that provides entertainment.
These media platforms can also be addicting if you
over do it. These people’s attention focuses and find
satisfaction in doing the said activities in excess and
that’s all they think about and it can destroy their
jobs and family

4. It can cause self -image issues it is amazing to see


that there are people are posting good in the media
sharing awareness and promotes beauty. But in this
matter the youth suffer the consequences thinking
the new standard of beauty is what they see in the
media. They want to copy and compare their look on
what they see in the media and forget to love
themselves and be beautiful the way they are.
5. Increased the time spend in the media, When you
are spending most of your time in the media, like
using the social media this can lead to social anxiety,
depression and exposure to contents that is not
appropriate.

6. Cyberbullying or online bullying , many youths


are facing this kind abuse in the media it cause
physical and emotional distress. As we always see
in this kind of abuse in the other social media
platform, these acts are lead to serious harm to a
person. These cyberbullies main goal is to hurt
others, posting hurtful comments to a person’s image
and personality on social media this act should stop
and it should not be tolerated.

we cannot contradict good and bad of media in our


life. In whatever way, we believe that in spite of the
benefits of the media and its bad aspects. But let me
share some tips on how to be a smart and responsible
user of the media.

1. Reduce your use of social media or give yourself


a screen time.
To attain this, to have to make a commitment to
yourself that you will do it. You can use various
techniques, such as helping with the household
choirs, spending time with family , clean and
tidying up your room and engage in sports. If you
really need to use social media /computer such as
replying to an important, messages or doing research
for schoolwork, make sure to do it with your pure
intensions to accomplish task right aways. Give
yourself like a screentime like 3 hours, and also you
can do like taking a nap and relax.

2.Prioritize on using social media in a positive


way. This can involve using media by actively
communicate or have meaningful conversation with
the people that you care about. Rather than meddling
with other people’s issues and stop THE
“MARITESS” Culture. As much as possible try to
post and share positive/good things all the time in
social media that attracts good energy and happy
mood
.

3.Aviod news sources and media outlet that are


based on facts
Nowadays you can find a lot of news and issues that
are scattered in social media some of them are not
based on truth and just speculations, this can lead to
confusion . Try to find media source that are reliable
and provide credible and reliable information. There
are many trusted networks for sourcing news and
information that are available that are based on facts.
Don’t based anything with someone or other
people’s opinion and rant which mostly are
misleading information that create fear and stress.

4. Change of scenery and appreciate the outside


world.
Many of us focus too much in the media and fail to
remember, appreciate the outside world. Take time
for yourself to relax and read a good book, talk or
share good stories with your siblings or family
members. You can also go on a road trip with your
family and see real the real beauty of nature that you
only see in pictures in the media
5.Remember you are always in control on your
thoughts.
They said we create our stress, because of the
stressor; they can trigger stress instantly and
knowing how to control it and limit yourself from it
will somehow reduce any negative effects that can
turn a smile into a frown. Stay on a positive side and
always see the good in everything and everyone,
don’t stress in small things instead pray for it and
always do what makes you happy.

PART OF OUR EVERDAY LIVES AND WE
LIVE IN THE ADVANCE TEHCNOLOGY ARE. I
WILL FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO KEEP ME ON
MY FEET, BE RESPONSIBLE AND TO AVIOD
THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF MEDIA AND
ALSO TO CREATE BALANCE TO THE USE OF
