BEATITUDE Righteousness
BEATITUDE Righteousness
BEATITUDE Righteousness
Matthew 5:6(NIV)
I. Introduction: As we continue to our series of study about “Beatitude”, let us define the ff.
word:
RIGHTEOUSNESS (The New Rogets Thesaurus Dictionary) - Adj. Ethical, honorable, virtuous (rule); Holy,
saintly, pious, devout (morality)
Righteousness is one of the chief attributes of God as portrayed in the Hebrew Bible. Its chief
meaning concerns ethical conduct (for example, Leviticus 19:36; Deuteronomy 25:1; Psalm
1:6; Proverbs 8:20). In the Book of Job the title character is introduced to people as a person
who is perfect in righteousness. (google)
The latter five (5) present the actions resulting from this attitude of heart.
v.7- The Merciful v.10 – Persecuted for Righteousness Sake
v.8 – Pure in Heart v.11 – Revile & Persecute
v. 9 – Peacemakers
Together they emphasize “Being” and “Living” rather than “doing”, so that the kingdom citizen
responds instinctively (by natural instinct) to various situations as they arise. They
revolutionize/change/transform accepted priorities and the world’s standard of blessedness.
The BEATITUDES, so designated because of the form of the statement , “Blessed are”,
describe the character traits of those accepted as citizens of the kingdom of God and set forth
both the present and future blessings of those whose lives portray these virtues. They describe
different experiences and attitudes of one person, rather than eight or nine different
categories of people.
II. Let us look on Psalm 1:1-6 (The way of the Righteous and the end of the Ungodly) Ang Tunay
na kagalakan- as we connect in Matt.5:6
2 Corinthians 5:21niv- God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we
might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21 Or be a sin offering)
Phil. 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Our true joy is found in the Lord
Born-Again Christian must be separated from the world: Worldly perspective, worldly
conduct and actions. We are in the world but not of the world.
1 John 2:15NKJV
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of
the Father is not in him.
Q. How and where is our life perspective? Kingdom of God or worldly kingdom?
3. Saturated/soaked (puspos) with the Word (Holy Scriptures) v.2 –
2 But his delight/pleasure (galak) is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he [b]meditates
day and night.
2 Timothy 3:16-17NKJV
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Philippians 4:19NKJV
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 12:9NKJV
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ
may rest upon me.
CONCLUSION:
A Blessed Man (Believer/s) who are hunger & thirst for Righteousness are Satisfied in the Lord,
Separated from the world, Saturated with the Word and will be Sustained by the Lord Jesus
Christ. Be Glory, Majesty and Praise, AMEN.
