Objectives: At the end of the lesson you are expected to:

Doctrine: Describe the relationship between love and salvation promised by the
Father and fulfilled by Jesus;
Moral: Participate in the teaching ministry of the Church in your own way;
Worship: Write your own Psalm to God, thanking Him for His presence in your
life;

I. NEED TO CONNECT
In Facebook, I came across of reports about the Italian priests who died of COVID 19
because they never ceased to provide the spiritual needs of the victims of the virus until they too
were infected. There was also a priest, a doctor by profession, who returned to medical practice
because of the need of medical professionals. These are people who were not threatened by
the virus in giving service to the people in need of spiritual strength in the midst of crisis. I am so
proud of them. Are you proud of them too?

II. NEED TO DISCOVER

There are people who live out their faith and become God’s witnesses at this time of
pandemic. There were many people like them from the past. Let us know some of them. This
time I invite you to go to pages 12-33 of your textbook and do the activity under Seeing God’s
Message in My Daily Life. Look at the image of these holy men/women and remember the
statement they uttered when they once lived. Then, answer the five (5) items asked under
Testing My Understanding. Find time to think and reflect before writing your answer. You may
also ask the opinion of your parents or companions at home.

III. NEED TO DISCUSS

After answering the questions, what important insights or realizations you get from the
activity? What is common among the four? Do you see yourself becoming like them?

Now, as you reflect deeper into the life of the saints and on the one you describe in the
last item, what does God would like you to know through their lives?

 The lives of the holy men and women are a clear testimony to the salvation
that Jesus brings.
 All of us are also called to live a holy life in Christ.

From the previous lesson, you learned that God revealed Himself to His people in many
ways in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, He reveals Himself in a “special way”.

To understand how God reveals Himself in a “special way,” proceed to the next activity
under Seeing God’s Message in the Scriptures on page 14 of the textbook. Get your Bible
and read slowly and reflectively the story about the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1: 18-24. After
reading, answer the four (4) questions under Testing My Understanding. Think and reflect over
the given questions before answering. If you find difficulty you may ask the help of your parents.
In answering item # 4, remember the words of the Prophet Jeremiah in the previous lesson, “I
will establish a new covenant with you, one that is not carved in stone but written in your heart.”
(Jer. 31:31-32)

Now to deepen some more your understanding on how God revealed Himself in a
“special way” through His Son, Jesus Christ, read CCC 430-431 and CCC 73 under Seeing
God’s Message in the Teachings of the Church on page 15 of the textbook. After reading,
answer these questions: How would you describe the identity and mission of Jesus? In what
way God has revealed Himself fully by sending His own Son?
After seeing God’s message to you from your life experience, from the Scripture, and
from the teachings of the Church, how then can you integrate this message in your daily life?
This time, kindly read Integrating God’s Message in My Life on pages 15-17 of the textbook.
On the process of integration underscore the answers to the following questions in your
textbook:
1. What do holy men and women show to us by the example of their lives?
2. Describe how the promise of salvation in the Old Testament fulfilled? State the role of
Mary and Joseph in the fulfilment of the promise. What is the meaning of the name
“Jesus” and “Emmanuel?”
3. How were God’s promises in earlier covenants in the Old Testament fulfilled in the
coming of Jesus? What can you say about Jesus in relation to:
 Adam
 Noah
 Abraham
 Moses, and
 David
4. Is there a relationship between love and salvation promised by the Father and fulfilled by
Jesus? How does the love of God manifested in His gift of salvation become visible in the
person of His Son, Jesus?

Should you have questions or clarification in the course of your self-study, please feel
free to get in touched with me through messenger (@Victor Alovera) or e-mail
(aloveravictor2@gmail.com).You may also consult or discuss with your parents to clarify
matters.

IV. NEED TO GENERALIZE

To sum up the important points you should have learned from the lesson, please read
Nurturing God’s Message on page 18 of the textbook.

V. NEED TO APPLY

To reinforce and gauge your learning about the lesson, do the activity under Empowered
by God’s Message on page 18 of the textbook. Be brief and clear of your answer.

VI. NEED TO ASSESS

Answer the Assessment Activities on pages 19 of the textbook. In answering, just

follow the given instruction. After answering, kindly take pictures of your answers and send
to me through messenger or e-mail.

VII. NEED OF MORE ACTIVITIES

Many young people nowadays are focused only on their own needs that they become
blind on the needs of others around them. As a young Dominican-Sienan you need to do
something to inspire them to reach out in genuine love to other people.

Make a collage or poster on the activities that you do at home or in your neighbourhood
that show genuine love. You may share your output to your friends in the social media. Send a
copy of your work to me in my messenger.
