1. Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in the Bohol province of the
Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills, but there may be as many as 1,776 hills
spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers. They are covered in green
grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name.
The Chocolate Hills are a famous tourist attraction of Bohol. They are featured
in the provincial flag and seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions in
the province. They are in the Philippine Tourism Authority's list of tourist destinations
in the Philippines; they have been declared the country's third National Geological
Monument and proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2. Kawasan Falls
Kawasan Falls in the island province of Cebu is one of the Philippines most
famous waterfalls, and one of the most famous in the world. This set of multi-tier
waterfalls lies in Barangay Matutinao, Badian, which sits on the southwestern coast
of Cebu and is about 103 kilometers from Cebu City. This coastal town is blessed

with natural attractions such as rivers, freshwater streams, and massive jungle
canyons.
Kawasan Falls is known to be a tropical oasis with big bamboo rafts that can
take you around the turquoise natural pool, and under the waterfall. The water for the
Kawasan Falls comes from the Kabukalan Spring and passes through the Kawasan
gorge en route to the Matutinao River and the Tanon Strait. Kawasan has many
waterfalls. The first one is the largest of the three and is usually the most crowded.
An uphill climb for fifteen minutes will take you to the second waterfall, and the third
waterfall.
Oslob Whale Shark Watching point is located in the southern part of the
province of Cebu. It was originally a small fishing village. Later, when whale sharks
were found, the villagers fed whale sharks and gradually developed a "free-range"
whale shark watching point. You can go whale shark watching on a boat, or you
snorkel or dive and swim with whale sharks. You have to set out early in the morning
to see the whale shark, as that is when they can be observed.

The Magellan Cross is the symbol of Cebu, and the image of the chapel
appears in the center of the city emblem. This is the cross that Magellan erected on
the beach after arriving in Cebu, symbolizing the colonization of the islands by the
Spanish king, and is now housed in a hexagonal pavilion in the center of Cebu City
Hall. The ceiling frescoes of the hexagonal chapel retain their original appearance,

and the realistic ceiling frescoes on the top of the cross are of great ornamental
value. Cebuans believe in and respect this cross with historical and cultural
significance. Every Sunday morning, countless good men and women bring incense
and candles to pray for peace and good luck.
5. Waterworld Cebu
The Waterworld Cebu with its 3-hectare complex puts the busy city at the
center of tourism as it is the biggest water park in Central Visayas. It officially opened
last December 14, 2019 but got temporarily closed due to COVID-19 restrictions and
the recent typhoon that hit Cebu in December 2021.

There are a lot of extreme and kid-friendly rides in the park. Some activities
are available too for those who wish to chill inside and are through riding the gigantic
slides, or those who have already experienced them in their previous visits and
prefer dry activities like bowling. The water park’s main attractions are its extreme
slides with seven different types. Their 1,500-square-meter wave pool with 1.5-
meter-high waves that can accommodate 1,000 people in one time. The waterpark
also have nine kiddie slides, giant bucket, and a 400/meter long Lazy River.

The Bohol Blood Compact sculpture was made by the National Artist,
Napoleon Abueva, a Boholano himself. It is placed on an open and raised dais
portraying five (5) life-sized images of men gathered around a table with Legazpi and
Sikatuna supposedly making a toast. Standing on the dais, visitors are treated to a
good view of the Bohol Sea and the contour of that particular side of the island of
Bohol.
The convent and the Church of the Sto. Niño de Cebu was founded by Fr.
Andres de Urdaneta on April 28, 1565 , the very day the Legazpi-Urdaneta
expedition arrived in the island. On May 8 of the same year, when Legaspi and his
men planned the urbanization of the city, they allotted a “place for the church and the
convent of San Agustin, “where the Santo Niño image had been found.”
The Church of the Holy Infant is located near Magellan's Cross. It was rebuilt
in 1740 and has a history of more than 200 years. It is the oldest Roman Catholic
church in the Philippines. In a room of the church there is a statue of a young Jesus,
which according to legend was given to the Queen of Cebu by Magellan in 1521, and
many locals will line up to pray here. The church has been bombed by wars many

times, but the statue of the Holy Infant in the church is not damaged at all, so the
locals call it a miracle, and worship of the Holy Infant has become one of the
religious activities on the island. There is also a wishing pool in the church. I heard
that it can cure all diseases. Many Catholics pray sincerely by the pool.
A small museum inside the Museum Church that showcases the long
traditions of Cebu City. Many ancient objects are on display, including century-old
furniture, priests' robes, and various cloaks dedicated to the Holy Child. Religious
objects such as statues and figurines and everyday objects from nearby monasteries
are also displayed.
Fort San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu, Philippines, built by the
Spanish under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, first governor of the
Captaincy General of the Philippines. It is located in the area now called Plaza
Independencia, in the pier area of the city. The original fort was made of wood and
built after the arrival of Legazpi and his expedition. In the early 17th century a stone
fort was built to repel Muslim raiders. Today's structure dates from 1738 and is the
oldest triangular bastion fort in the country. It served as the nucleus of the first
Spanish settlement in the Philippines.

San Petro Fort is located next to the port. It is also known as the ancient
castle of the Philippines with the Santiago Castle in Manila. There are many traces of
war here, which can be said to have been deeply imprinted by the war. Now it is a
school classroom. There is a museum in Fort San Petro, which displays some of the
art treasures salvaged from the old Spanish sailing ship and the sunken "Santiago".
Both worshippers and non-worshippers can enter the temple free of charge. A
ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. The ritual
includes washing hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of
wood. If the wood blocks are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it
is not yet the time for one's wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple
some other time.

The temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the
teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Zi. Another ritual among Taoist
devotees, which is done during Wednesdays and Sundays, is the climbing of its 81
steps (representing the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures) to light joss sticks and
have their fortune read by the monks.
Every city has a complex history that is the foundation of its present society.
In Dumaguete, the best place to explore that history is the Dumaguete Belfry . Long
ago, pirates often raided Dumaguete, taking both material wealth and people to be
sold as slaves. Dumaguete’s citizens were terrorized by these pirates, who struck
without warning. The Belfry was built in the early 1800s to provide a watchtower, to
warn residents of incoming pirate attacks so they could escape or prepare
themselves. The Belfry saved many lives during its time as a watchtower. Since the
Dumaguete Belfry stands right beside the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral,
at one time it was also used to call residents to mass. Nowadays, of course, people
have little to fear from pirates, but the landmark still stands as a proud reminder that
the city survived difficult times and has moved on to become prosperous.
Today, the Dumaguete Belfry is one of the city’s best known landmarks and is
thought to be one of the oldest surviving structures in the city. It can be taken as

Forest. It is a dense forest stretching two kilometers along the border of Loboc and

Bilar towns in Bohol. It is part of a reforestation project started over 50 years ago.
During the Second World War, in order to avoid the war, a large number of local
people fled into the forest, which made the deforestation of the Luobo River Basin
quite serious. The local government established the Luobo River Basin Afforestation
Project (LWRP) in 1947. Promote greening and planting artificial forests. After
decades of hard work, this dense forest is lined with trees, the air is fresh, and there
are tree-lined paths in the middle of the forest.
The Loboc-Bilar man-made forest plays host to many visitors, locals and
foreigners alike who take time to view it from the road and take pictures. The Metro
Manila filmmakers often use the forest as a backdrop for some of their action films.
Other groups go hiking thru the woods and up the mountain. Mountain bikers often
use the wide asphalt road that traverse the forest aside from the day-to-day buses
and public transport that ply between the towns.
Boracay is not just famous for its crystal-blue waters and powder-white sands,
but it is also home to an eerie but enchanting attraction: the Sunken Forest. The
Sunken Forest, also known as the Dead Forest, is a distinctive attraction found in
Boracay. It is located at the tip of Barangay Balabag, just minutes away on foot from
the busy water-sports section of Bulabog Beach.

In the past, the forest was said to be a standard patch of mangrove trees.
Also known as bakawan, mangroves flourish in brackish water. The Dead Forest
was said to be a product of an ecological disturbance. It happened when a dam that
kept off the saltwater broke down, destroying the swamp and killing off the
mangroves that grew in it. The only things that remained are dead tree trunks
sticking out of the stagnant water. The forest presents a highly romantic scene
surrounded by old folktales about ghosts and goblins because of its appearance.
Locals believe supernatural occurrences take place here, particularly during the full
moon.
Bohol is mostly famous for the Chocolate Hills but there are some other
awesome places on the island which are worth visiting too. Also known as Tigbao
Hanging Bridge, the Twin Hanging Bridge or simply as the Bambo Hanging Bridge of
Bohol, this is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island.
Traditionally built with only bamboo, the once single bridge that was
constructed to cross the Sipatan river is now made of steel cables and has doubled
to sustain the foot traffic from tourists and locals who pass by them. It spans a length
of 40 meters and a height of 20 meters, with a deck bridge of woven bamboo slats
and a great view of the Sipatan river below. Although both bridges are secure, they

still are prone to shaking from the weight of passers-by, which will heighten the fun
for adrenaline junkies.

shape resembles a castle, but its main function is to serve as a church. The many
spires on the outside of the building show the prosperity of the church, while the
interior is colorful. The bright and beautiful statues overlook the world. The colorful
wall windows reflect the colorful light. The colorful candles carry people's hopes and
burn slowly.
