ACTIVITY 1

THE JUVIE G. MARIANO

ENTREPRENEURI
AL MIND

This serves as your activity. Answer the following questions.

 Part 1

 What is mindset? Mindset is defined as the set of attitudes or beliefs that we hold. Mindset is crucially
important because our attitudes and beliefs affect everything we do, feel, think, and experience. Our mindset
influences our perceptions and how we move through the world. Although we have one overall mindset, this
can be made up of many smaller mindsets. Some of these help us improve our well-being and succeed in the
world. Others hurt our ability to do so. That's why developing certain mindsets can greatly help us reach our
goals, enjoy our lives, and be more successful.

 Why does mindset matter in our success? Mindsets matter because they shape the way we view the world
and can constrict or expand the way in which we engage in life. Our mindsets grow out of the experiences we
have. Irrespective of whether the experience is positive or negative, a filter is formed that limits what our mind
absorbs of subsequent situations. This is driven by protecting ourselves and feeling secure in an uncertain
world. Paradoxically, by avoiding making the same mistakes and being hurt we quite unintentionally miss
opportunities. We can even miss out on greater things by being fixed on replicating previous success.

 What is entrepreneurial mindset? An entrepreneurial mind-set is a set of skills that enable people to identify
and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings or
it refers to a specific state of mind which predisposes human conduct towards entrepreneurial activities and
outcomes. It includes attributes such as open-mindedness, creativity, innovation, and availability for taking
calculated risk.

 What does it mean to be entrepreneurial?  It is not just about starting a business or spinning out a company
from research. It’s a mindset, or a way of thinking. Entrepreneurs just think and do things differently. You can
be entrepreneurial even if you are working for someone else, with the buzzword “intrapreneurial” highlighting
the desire of employers to have adaptable, flexible employees who can think for themselves.  Being
entrepreneurial can mean knowing your industry inside out and being able to exploit that knowledge to create
new opportunities.  Being entrepreneurial can mean sharing ideas freely and celebrating so-called failures as
learning and growing experiences. Being entrepreneurial can mean simply thinking outside of the box and
expecting the unexpected.

 What are the common traits of successful entrepreneurs?

Have a vision for your business
Knowing where you’re going is the first step to achieving success. With a clear vision of the path you want your
company to take, you will always have a target that directs your daily actions even as conditions change in and
around your business.
Be curious about every aspect of your business
Successful entrepreneurs are curious about things. They always want to know more – how things work, how to
make them better, what consumers are thinking. This insatiable curiosity ensures their business models are never
stagnant and always evolving with the times.
Know when to ask for help
A business has many different aspects – sales, marketing, operations, just to name a few. An entrepreneur may
have a general understanding of these disciplines but is unlikely to possess detailed knowledge in all areas. The
best entrepreneurs understand their weaknesses and hire experts who can complement their skills.
Have integrity and a sense of fairness
The successful entrepreneur understands that money comes and goes, but your reputation stays with you forever.
So, whether it’s with vendors, customers, or employees, it’s important to always maintain a level of respect when
dealing with others.
Be willing to learn from your mistakes
Many successful entrepreneurs have an uncanny ability to look at every misstep as a learning opportunity. They
ask, “what did we learn from this?” as opposed to “why did this happen?” The willingness to admit their mistakes
further drives them to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Have confidence and a strong belief in yourself
Entrepreneurs will come across plenty of naysayers throughout their business journey. When this happens, they
must be able to maintain belief in themselves and their capabilities. Seeking advice and inspiration from mentors
and friends who share their passion is also one way of building their self-confidence.
Be able to inspire those around you
The best entrepreneurs help make the people they work with better. They do this by inspiring others through their
own pursuit of excellence. When the bar is raised, those truly passionate about their job will follow suit and raise
their standards too.
Don’t be affected by emotions
The business world is no place for emotions. Entrepreneurs should be objective when making decisions and not be
affected by their feelings. The same is true in personal relations: any sort of emotional reaction should be avoided.
Focus instead on the business-side of things such as performance and accomplishments.
Be passionate about your business
You’ve probably heard these many times, but that is only because it’s true – Passion is the most important trait of
the successful entrepreneur. Loving what you do means you’re willing to put in extra effort to make your business
a success, as the satisfaction you get is far greater than the monetary gains.

 What are the reasons why entrepreneurial mindset is essential?

Thinking like an entrepreneur will help you right from the beginning. You have a plan for your business, you’ve
figured out all the details, and you’re ready to start making money, but it’s normal to feel worried or anxious about
your new venture. Here’s where you should begin to channel your inner entrepreneur! Creating that
entrepreneurial mindset will help you to think about what you’re doing and why. It will help you to know where
you would like your business to lead you, and what risks you’re willing to take to succeed. If you know the
answers to these questions, you’ll be ready to tackle all the challenges your new business throws at you.

 What are the steps to develop an entrepreneurial mindset?

2
Improve
Successful entrepreneurs never think that they know it all. They are curious, eager to learn, motivated to improve
their skills and never stop trying to become better and better at what they do and who they are. Successful
entrepreneurs believe that they should grow as professionals and aim to improve their skill sets.
Accept
Successful entrepreneurs choose carefully their emotional battles and avoid stressing about things that they can’t
change. This is liberating feeling, which can help every person to concentrate on the important things, which they
can actually do something about, not on the things, which they can’t control. Successful people look for the
opportunities in the problems, not the opposite.
Stay at the present moment
Successful entrepreneurs never obsess about the past mistakes: they learn from the past and move on. Successful
entrepreneurs concentrate on the present moment, try to do their best at this moment, because this is what their
future will be based on.
Value your network
Successful entrepreneurs work hard to build strong network and support system and value all their connections.
They are ready to expand their network and strengthen their connections with other people who can inspire,
motivate, advise or mentor them and vice versa.
Celebrate the success of others
Successful entrepreneurs help other people to achieve their dreams and goals. They are happy to see that other
people succeed, because entrepreneurship is all about achieving something great that can be beneficial for
everyone, not just for one person.

 PART 3

*In this time of Pandemic what is your motivation in pursuing your education?
Success is what motivates me to pursue my education, knowing the fact that it’s not easy to cope up in the new
learning system because of the pandemic that we are facing for the last two years until now. So as a college student I
am motivating myself to finish and become a successful person someday.
*Have you been through some hardships in this pandemic, what are those and
how did you get through it? Or are you having some hardships and how do you
plan to overcome these?
We all know that this pandemic is profoundly changed and affect the life around
the globe. Plenty of us suffered from mental health issues and I’m one of those
who experienced it. At first, I really don’t know how to deal with it but thanks
to my family, cousins and friends who stay by my side during that time.
Happy Working!!!
